Australian passport holders pay US$30 for a Lao visa - after all, we paid for the bridge. :D

Re-entry permits

Postby tamada » December 8, 2011, 5:51 pm

OK, back to my OP where I was applying for a re-entry permit on an expired Non-O multi.

Udon Immigration issued the re-entry permit last Tuesday with the same validity of the original 'permission to stay' stamp despite the enabling visa having expired. They asked if I wanted a multiple re-entry which I didn't need. I paid 1000 baht + 20 baht for the copying they did. Took about half an hour as there were 3 customers ahead of me at 9.30am.

Upon re-entering last night from Singapore, the Suvarnabhumi Immigration chap took his time flipping back and forth between the expired visa and the re-entry permit. He finally picked up his date stamp and fiddled with the dates. I checked it after he gave it back and he actually gave me until 2 February whereas the original permission to stay stamp and re-entry permit state until 1 February. So for my troubles, I seemed to have gained an extra day.
