I'm counting the days until I can come there and live in peace in Udon. Our politician's and society have gone beserk here. Government fighting one another over every issue, guns blazing in schools, malls and on the streets, the cost of living is outrageous and extreme liberalism is overflowing.........

And although Houston (for example only, I love Texas) may have a lower cost of living....the crime rate is thru the roof

Dont get me wrong I'm truley Red White and Blue at heart but somthings got to give, and that would be ME.

Fully agree $600 a month house rent is a good deal.

But I still prefer my payment of $300 a month here for a three bedroom two bath.

That being said the savings of $300 a month isn't worth it if your not content.

This simply is not for everybody

aircraft I love Texas also but I prefer west Texas like El Paso and I am a New Yorker
I would not point the finger at liberals they do some good and so do conservatives
I would look at the chamber of commerce in your town they are the one bringing in illegals by offering them jobs sadly the criminal element comes in with them. as for crime it a drug problem and until you fixed the immigration problem you are going to continue with that problem
no one want to really attack the problem in Wash/dc because they will get hammered and lose votes they will be called racist etc. I agree with need to take back our country
as for guns every one should be armed except for criminals & wackos this way we can shoot first

Not as a debate item, but crime in Houston is going down.

I do not blame you guys for going to Thailand. I am sure you will enjoy your time there. I am sure a lot of you guys will stay and that is good.

Two peices of advice, don't burn your bridges in your home country as you might return. When you go Rent, Rent and then Rent. If you then stay, buy if you like. I did not dream up this, it was passed on to me. The above advice worked great for me.

I do plan to rent for awhile when I first move there. My wife of 31 years is Thai and has family in Nong Khai, Udon Thani and Ban Phue. We have visited there during the past two summers and have an idea of where we would like to live. We both decided no firm buying committment until we are absolutely positive we can adapt. The funny part is I think and would bet a few beers on it that I will adapt much easier than my americanized (really :D mean spoiled) Thai wife ..........LOL

When we moved to Thailand I had the same problem as wife had a bit more difficult time. However in time it was me with the most issues. As we moved back we agreed it was me 51% and her 49%.

That's pretty close precentages of agreement. I can only imagine some of the problems... I'm sure after being there more than 30 days at a time I will discover the road could be and most probably will be rougher until we get adjusted or, give up and return

(and not saying you did) BUT I WON'T GIVE UP EASY LOL

Mine was...
Stay in the US 10% me...90% her

Life in the big PX, she loves it.

She is there now, and I'm still stuck here for 27 more days.
( and she just told me her and mom went out yesterday and bought us a new pick up truck  )
