I have some bad news for you, KP - you are kidding yourself. :cry:

5'11' x 235lbs = BMI of 32.8.

BMI Categories:

* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

As far as the OP is concerned, BMI = 36.3

In the interests of full disclosure, my BMI is 27.2 - so I recognise that I am overweight.

Have a look here http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmi-m.htm

You see there you go again, some of us ain't normal not in medical terms, when I asked about my apparant overwieght from my doctor father,brother,sister and staff nurse sister my nephew doctor they all said you ain't normal.
Seriously though some of us are heavy boned not in the head like some posters but in other ways, it is than that causes one to be overweight according to the norm.
My bone density is greater than others.
Oh by the way my mother aged 84 is 5.7 wiehgs about 85 kilo and she is not overweight. she and I and my sister and other members of my family have the same problem. for years we have been classed as fat even when I had NO love handles and was weighing in at 13 stone aged 18 yrs and nine months which equates to about 81 kilogrammes, which is only 25 kilos less than I weigh now some 42 years later. overweight am I, well not in my head at any rate.

The main criticism of the BMI index is that many people who are very athletic and who are overweight because they are very muscular may have a high BMI and be labeled as being overweight or obese.

Many go for the BMI index because it is easy to use, provides a reasonable standard to go by and readily available as illustrated by Jack's link but there are other tests that are more accurate, some of these tests can only done in a medical facility which is a drawback if you want instant results or a rule of thumb. Naturally, if it becomes a major concern the first port of call might be your doctor. :lol:

Hi eastern eye.
Lets all save ourselves a lot of hassle and don't bother with a Thai. D.L. for now. As you will only be in LOS for six months at a time you are legally allowed to drive on a British D.L. for 12 months, if you don't leave LOS in that time you have got to get a LOS DL. If you leave LOS before 12 months are up, when you return to LOS again, you have another 12 months. This is fact, not hearsay, by other people. Went to Udon DL center end of last month and talked to the boss man on the second floor, in the D.L. section, and this is what he stated when I showed him my British DL, and asked how long can I legally drive in LOS on this. I got a LOS D.L. because I got a "retirement" visa, and had no need to leave LOS every 90 days. I must admit I thought it was 90 days and said this to the boss man. His reply was that I was listening to to many falang voices.
If you want to check this go down to Udon DL center and ask.
Eastern Eye, when you get over here go to Udon DLC and check for yourself. This is the best way.
I know how you feel about to much weight, I'm only 5ft 6 and weight 84K. Since I had a stroke some years ago have never been able to shed it. Still I feel alright, touch wood.

Mr. Doug appears you need some catching up to do. EE's concern is being allowed in the country for being a fat bast*rd (as he put it), not DL but good info anyway ;)

As seen in my previous post my intentions are to live in UK + Thai half and half of the year for mabe the next 5 years or so ,, then hopefully in a financial position to pull up the drawbridge and retire with a non O , PROBLEM is despite the fact I do not suffer with blood pressure and excersise regularly I am one fat bstrd !!

QUESTION is has anyone on here or know of anyone being refused their medical on weight // height ratio ?? as is continually rammed down our throats in the UK everytime we go to the quacks,,,,,,if this is the case I need to start something drastic now ,,,,,, like starvation :( just for the record I am 5ft 10 and 115 kilos !

Well, if they start refusing visas/extensions because of being overweight then there will be a long line out at Swamibummy Airport. I'm just hoping they don't stack too many of those fat bodies on one plane. :lol:
