Replacement remote controls wanted

Postby BobHelm » July 20, 2008, 6:41 pm

Has anyone seen a shop/stall in Udon that sells replacement remote controls?
I need one for an LG aircon unit - which I know even at a shop selling replacements might be a bit of a stretch.
I also need one for a TV which should be less of a problem I think...

The big Sony shop had some ages ago, and for the TV, most electric shops have a multi functional unit for all TV, DVD's etc.

The electronics shop on the ground floor in Big C. Many TV remotes and seen a few A/C remotes, but don't know if they've got what your looking floor. There's also a green binder/leaflet in the general area of the remotes that you can look up the model number, if it's in the book they carry it. I believe they also have a universal A/C remote, not sure if that works for you.

Well Papa, thank you... :D
Went into Big C today & took my two u/s controls with me. Went up to the customer service counter in the electronics shop & asked for replacements. No English spoken, but had TG with me anyway. The girl at customer services asked what was wrong with the old one.
A/C no problem to explain, some pratt (& no not me.. :D ) had left batteries in it for far too long & they had leaked everywhere inside & destroyed the battery contacts.
TV a bit more complicated, 95% of it worked fine, except for the two rocker like switches at the bottom - one to flick channels, one to adjust volume up down.
Fine, she says, come back in 1 hour.
Spent some time shopping in Big C & went back.
Two repaired remotes, complete with new batteries - 180 baht!!!
Happy bunny me returns home - thanks again...
:D

Your welcome Bob, go to hear it work out for you. I didn't know they repair RC's. Anyway, it's one of my favorite shops I go about once a week to browse for new stuff.

I have often opened up remote controls, and it is quite surprising at the amount of sh*t that collects on the electronic boards, and under the buttons which operate them.

Often a good clean with some spirit based cleaner, plus a few cotton buds, will sort out the problems.

Old leaking batteries....tch! tch! Bob :D
