that confirms my thinking:
The democrats need the independents (Lieberman & co  )
In any case, the discussion should go deeper,
it has nothing to do with republicans or democrats;

We have seen it over and over again,
Big Corporations are running the USA.
The US politicians are proving that they are COWARDS when it comes to protecting the United States from Corporate Criminals such as BP, Moodys, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and the other Too Big to Fail Corporations and Special interests.
The politic system in the US is a bought and bribed system that is corrupt and broken.
total reforms are necessary,
How can a nation remain a superpower if its internal politics are incorrigibly wrong and corrupt?

The real preamble to the US Constitution.

"We the elite of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish a government of the corporations, for the special interests and by the courts."

One of the most dangerous obstacles to democracy in the US and the world is corporate personhood. In the US corporations were initially very limited in their scope and had to have a purpose that was for the public good. Over the years the wealthy turned corporations to their service in maintaining their control of the property and government of the US. Corporations gained personhood before slaves, Indians, and women.

There is currently a movement gaining momentum in the US to abolish corporate personhood. It is well worth your support if you value freedom and democracy.

For a brief history of democracy in the US and the growth of corporate power this link is excellent.

Slavery is the legal fiction that a
Person is Property. Corporate
Personhood is the legal fiction that
Property is a Person.

UdonEx The US is not a Democracy its a Federal Republic come to grips with this and the anger will leave your body. I enjoy the notion of corporate "personhood" It allows for people from different political planets (like you and me) to come together and invest in ideas that will have its own legal standing and its own legal responsibility (BP for example).

Corporations cant vote as it is just a legal construct yet a corporation can pay taxes. Net tax receivers can vote and don't pay taxes, I would argue that this is the problem

Had you bothered to read even a little of the excellent history of the development of US political history you would know that I am well aware of how undemocratic the US system is. As a republic the US has always been controlled by the wealthy.

I'd like to see that change and the US become a democratic country. Abolishing coporate personhood would be a significant step in the direction I would like things to go. Corporations don't vote but they pay for the wealthy people to run for congress, the presidency, and state, county, and city offices. What they have is better than a vote, they have wealth to pay for the imposition of their agendas.

If you want to keep it as a republic for the rich that's up to you.
