Roast beef

Postby tamada » January 3, 2011, 3:48 am

Anyone know if there's any deli-type places doing cold roast beef? I am gagging for a decent roast beef sandwich and short of buying my own cow and having a life-time supply, just wonder if there's anyone selling beef in this land of pig meats.

Cheers,
NL

Jon at Chern Chim cooks & slices his own. The beef is Australian, I believe, & is not overcooked. Then sliced & vacuum packed so it does not dry out.
He also does various sorts of ham & pork (smoked & un-smoked). Surprisingly inexpensive for what you get & the ham is far better than the supermarket pre-packed stuff, which is pretty poor in my opinion.

Tamada

I have bought the Roast Beef from Chern Chim and its lovely stuff, melts in the mouth and as Bob says, not over cooked at all.

Not sure on the price, but if u go to the Chern chim thread under shopping, u can post and a reply will be sent no doubt....

Sounds like it, a tad pink on the inside, and mouth watering.

Even better with my mum's home made relish and chutney, hand caried from Tasmania last month !

OK, I know I said I would be in by for the roast a couple of days ago but the wife has intercepted the car and my wallet to the tune of about 60,000 baht of mattresses, pillows, sofa's, carpets.... she must have twigged I go back to work on Friday!

Anyway 'mash, do you still have some roast beef left? I hope to get at least 2 days of sandwiches before I bugger of to the Philippines.

well 'mash, as u know, i bought the last couple of frozen baps as well as 2 packs of roast beef and shunning your advice (and only having the 2 baps), i managed to get TWO slices in each one, all slathered in horseradish sauce and washed down with some San Miguel Pale Pilsen (man's beer... not that Lite sh!te).

Reality check... sitting the the lounge at Manila airport with a hangover, 2 bowls of khao tom and Coors piss in tinnies. The slide has started!

Excellent rolls by the way, made for perfect sandwiches! See ya next month.
