Rubber output

Postby wiking » February 7, 2012, 2:01 pm

I could like to get some information

how many kilo you get on per rai and how old are the trees - because i know that 7 years are not giving so much as 15 years trees and this is possible to tap around 27-28 year - but i dont know how many days it is possible to tap in isaan.

if you are selling only the milk, how many kilo and to which price
if you selling the dry robber, how many kilo and to which price

Do not know specifically if latex is only seasonal in issan, but if irrigated should be all year? General advice is to not tap until 7 years old, because although you can tap earlier, damage to tree more likely. Usual tapping life is 25 years, then sell tree for rubber wood.

Maximum productivity is 2,000 kg dry rubber per hectare/year. that would be 320 kg per rai. But i think climate here not perfect (rubber needs year round water and high humidity), so probably less than that.

Also, bear in mind that although the commodity market price may be over 100 baht a kilo, it is the traders and local consolidators who make the money. The off-farm price for sheet can be 35 baht a kilo. So, that makes a crop income of about 10,000 baht per Rai per year - but you have your costs; no idea about those.

thanks

yes i know, they cannot tap the hole year in isaan - but how many days a year they need to stop i dont know

biggest cost is to the workers - they share 40% to the tap people and 60% to the owner

Rubber output

Seems a lot of hard work for the money, what with the poor soil up here.

A better bet is to open a bar and have all the girls dressed in rubber.

I suggest that you go to ThaiVisa...look in the farming section...There is a very long thread about rubber trees and tells you everything there is to know about them....Lots of good info and a lot of knowledgeable people have contributed...

Yes, even the idea of opening a bar in Thailand is one of the most idiotic project you can sit on it seems the rubber plantation was also a really bad idea! So maybe better dress them bargirl in rubber and look at them - thats feels funnier then look at a slowly driping rubbertree =P~
These days life seems pretty good and I eagerly look forward to the continuation!
