Hi Paul, sorry to hear you are in your second home again, it's about time you had some good luck for a change.I went to your park the other day and i must say i got sick of catching jerramid(best exercise ive had for a long time),it was a great day, plenty cold ale, lovely deep fried fish and nice to see the place busy,as for staff,Apple was ever attentive and the 2 boys that always seem to serve me were the same.On a down note Paul there was a group of Thai lads still fishing with more than 1 hook(why do they seem to think they can ignore your rules) and we saw 1 family tip back half a keepnet of fish,i know that apple collared them but there excuse was they thought this was what you do as they were going home.NOT a complaint Paul just thought you should be aware, especially, after the stock you have just put in.Hope your well soon......johnty.

John,

I am really Glad you enjoyed your day out, We have racked our brains on how to stop this practise, and welcome any suggestions from customers. It appears that 99% of people who do this are locals!!. I wish I could ban then them but theres just not enough felangs to do this I have hired more staff to watch customers more closely. I will be in Bangkok until Thursday when I fly back to Udon to Pack for for leaving for Work, I have to get a skin graft when I get back in a months time then hopefully that will be case closed.

Regards Paul

The one hook rule certainly did not stop us catching so many fish! :D

In fact it made catching the fish much more enjoyable as it is so much easier to unhook them, before it was sometimes a major task getting all those hooks out of this fish  this wasted a lot of fishing time and sometimes damaged the fish badly.....

For any customers that ignore or not aware of the rule, how about a small visual sign on each of the huts.... :-k

easy solution ... think thai .
have a two tier entrance fee..
double for thai,s :D :D

or better still ,,, a farang only day , just after you have re stocked.
that will make the thai smile ,,, somewhat twisted . \:D/

Hangsaboot

You may not remember but awhile ago I suggested a Ferang only day or even night as we have good spot lights where you could take your wives kids in old timers case his 50+ fit birds so we can see what we are missing etc etc but I neve ronce has a responce so thought it was a dead in the water idea,I do try hard to respond to customer requests so if people would like this to Happen I will do it.
I would also welcome any sensible ideas to improve the Park even more that it is and would love to have a 50/50 partner to share ideas, help promote the Park and Manage the Staff.
Regards Paul.

Hi PAul
Regarding this "one hook" rule. I was at Sabai a few weeks ago, first visit, great time. We rented 3 rods from your staff. One rod was equipped with 3 hooks , one with 2 hooks and one with a single hook. So you see, I don't understand this rule, I thought it only applied to OT

A tasty web site would work wonders, I think people would travel from all over the world just to fish at your park, it is big business in Bangkok,

Alchai,

Thats for thre info, looks like another training session needed with the staff once im fit again, In their defence many people change the lines over when the staff are out out of sight butshould be noticed when rod returned. We are in the middle of printing a large poster to advise Single hook only and only fish being kept to be put in the keep needs as this causes the fish unnessesary stress and damage and can obviously kill the fish.

Signs should be up next couple of days.

Hi Paul, went to your park again today, fishing not as good as the other day but still very enjoyable(it was blo*dy hot).....believe from alfonso that all the staff must know my u/n on here now as he heard them say that i was coming(as my wife phoned beforehand) and Apple made this known to some of the Thai people who then changed to single hook(begining to feel they think i am the local baliff  ) but that is not the only reason why i am writing this, I have never minded paying for what i feel is the proper cost of something, the other day your handyman/? dug me some worms and i paid him 100 baht(cash) as i was very happy after my days fishing(know it is probably ott but he deserved it after a cracking day for myself),but,Apple then put them on my bill(same amount 100baht) this was removed after she learnt that i had already paid him.Today i caught 2 biggish jerramid and had them cleaned after purchase by your staff as well as having them filleted and cut into strips as they have done many times in the past for me, but today i was charged 100 baht just for filleting and cutting them into strips ,is this normal practice now or am i right in thinking that Apple is just charging what she wants?.....hope you are better soon,Johnty.

Johnty,
After you left yesterday everyone said thank f*** the old Bailiff is away and went back to fishing with 5/6 hooks.
I caught a good few fish and the Thai’s even gave us some of their fish. I’m now off the bailiff list .
The wife, granddaughter & her father came down and had food, I had Praka Pow & it was the best I’ve had in my 12 years in Thailand. The cook is good as well as being a nice cheery guy.
Paul & Johnty,
I’m only joking about the hooks. I did notice the usual gang were on single hooks yesterday so they have obviously been told.
I also saw the truck come in and they put a lot more fish into the small pond again.
I enjoyed my day and will be back next week.

HI John,

There are two questions you have asked here, The first one concerns the worms

Answer: We do not and have never to date soldworms at the fishing Park,Tour Wife called the Park 2 times demanding we had worms ready for you as you wanted to catch big fish, therefore the handyman was told to go to his village and dig up worms for especially for you . He should not have been given the money this should have gone to Apple as this job was done in our time and not his own time. SHould you get worms again please give the money only on your bill we will education out staff when I get out of hospital.

Answer 2: With regards to the cleaning of fish, we have never charged for this service, you wife called apple and told her to add 100 baht for doing this service as she didnt have small money to give a tip.

We are now looking for a suppier to suppier us with live worms for fisihing every day at a reduced cost from what you have been Paying inthe past.

SO I WANT ALL CUSTOMERS TO KNOW SABAI SABAI FISHING PARK HAS NEVER SOLD WORMS TO CUSTOMERS IN THE PAST BUT WILL TRY TO INTRODUCE THIS SERVICE FOR THE FUTURE, WE ALSO HAVE ALOT MORE FISH ARRIVING OVER THE NEXT MONTH.

Alfronzo

Glad you had a great day out and look forward to seeing you next week, John not sure when you go back to UK but would be nice to see you too.

Regards to you both

This person can speak English and Thai but is only TukTuk Servicenot information about the fishing Park.

We have also reduced the price of Siamese and Indian Carp

Finally Our Agents are still looking for more Jeramid, Panine and Tapien even though the Park is full fish

Sabai Sabai Fishing Park - Dredging Ops

Postby pongpong » August 28, 2010, 11:51 pm

We hope to start next week to remove some of the old lines with hooks that have been lost in the big pond using a grappling hook as recommended by one of our regular customers, I would also like to take the opportunity to once again advise customers that wire traces are best used when fishing here as Jeramid (Pacu) have a habit of just biting the line, sometimes even the wire trace as I have experienced and witnessed in the past, they can also straighten your hook. Please also note that not always are you snagged on the bottom sometimes its actually some of the bigger fish that have taken your line we do have fish up to 20 kilo and Jaws so some may get mistaken in thinking they have caught the bottom or previously lost line, However the person who pointed out the issue is experienced enough to know when they have a fish on the line. This will continue when we close for 3 weeks annual holidays in late Sept (Actual) dates to be posted later. Thanks to our regular who asked us to try and remove some of the old lines etc. At the top end of the pond there is a little submerged island which we cannot remove without emptying out the big pond and spending in excess of 1 million baht to do. This is actually a great place to catch fish as they like to shelter there but floats with short leads are better used. Around the Island is a deep trough which the fish like to swim around. As usual we try where possible to attend to our customers requests. Please feel free to PM us anytime with suggestions or complaints and where we can we will try to accommodate or fix.

Regards Paul.

Paul,

Small suggestion, the island on the top right of the lake is obviously way too expensive to remove so why not make it a proper island i.e. add more earth to it and stick a tree or two and some natural flaura...... Just a suggestion and you promote that piece, like you said, for float fishing?

Cheers
