Safe Long Stay Car Park (Udon Airport)

Safe Long Stay Car Park (Udon Airport)

Postby chrisoary » September 4, 2010, 7:29 pm

I have to go back to the UK for a couple of days to go to a friends wedding. Rather than getting my heavily pregnant other half to drive me the 3 hour trip from Sri Wilai to the airport I was thinking about driving myself and leaving the car somewhere for the duration of my trip.

Is there anything like a long stay carpark in Udon either close to the airport or abit further away? any suggestions would be appreciated

This, but from over a year ago, is worth a read Chris - until someone adds something new..

There's long-term parking at Udon airport.......the last time I used it (2008) it cost 100 baht per day. It's shaded with a security guard and with a chain to the ground. The last shop (near international arrivals) handled the service.
I've used it for 3 days without a problem.

I thought there had been newer reports, but I can't find them at the moment.

Anyway, the consensus (including my own experience on 4 occasions, for up to 14 days) it that it is quite safe to park your car in the general airport car park. If you are looking for further peace of mind, you can pay for a "supervised" area in front of the old terminal, near the car wash.

Yes. Go to the counter across the way from where the arrivals enter the airport concourse, next to the doorway. You can park your car first in the secure area near the carwash. Get a covered space with a place to chain the wheel. When you check in just give them name, car model, and License Plate Number. They will give you a receipt to present when you claim the car after your trip. One hundred Baht a day. I have also parked in the regular parking area for up to 2 days with no problem for free.

Have left a vehicle at the airport five times in the last three years, each time the vehicle has been left for at least a week and each time the vehicle has been left in the “normal” airport parking area and each time have experienced no problems.

Just checked my diary and earlier this year left a pickup for fourteen nights in the “normal” parking area of the airport.

Have never used the "secure" parking, but will consider it for the future because, although never experienced any problems, there may be insurance implications that I have not previously considered.

I don't know how long stay parking may be viewed by the insurance company if the vehicle is not in a "secure" park and should something happen to it :-k

I too have left my car parked for up to 5 days in the ordinary car park area.

Also over the last year or so, I have taken it to the car wash people there, paid for a car wash and then an additional 50 or 100 baht per day, and they have valeted it and then parked it, usually under cover, until my return.

You can also park it secured, in a covered area, arranged through the mini-bus transport people, first kiosk near the exit door, as you exit the arrival area. I previously got both those ideas from this forum. :D
