Sakhon Nakhon Immg. Office ???

Postby pianoman » September 23, 2009, 9:44 am

O.K., I know this is the "Udonmap Forum", but it is the closest Information source for things Sakhon Nakhon... Knowing that the new Khon Kaen Immg. Office is now going thru it's "openning stages", and reading here that the Udon Offices will be openning shortly, I thought that possibly someone might know what is happening with the Sakhon Nakhon office????

For those of us who live in Kalasin and were orginally sent to Nakhon Phanom Immg. Office, it is strongly rumored that we have been religated to Sakhon Nakhon once it opens... Not as close as Khon Kaen would be for us, but still an hour shorter drive than proceeding on to Nakhon Phanom...

I suspect you are talking about doing a 90 day report by post; rather than a visa?

If you are refering to the 90Day Report, I have been doing that thru the post for years.... I haven't asked recently, but was told 7 years ago that the "Yearly Extention" could not be done by Post due to the fact that they wanted you there in person... Also, I would not feel comfortable sending my Passport thru the Thai Postal System...

But Thank You for the post...

Maybe back in your home country, you send to the embassy, but not in country. Years back, I sent the paperwork and passport to DC embassy for a muliti-entry visa.

Pianoman, might want to ck thaivista, or called the NKP office (best idea).

FYI.... Just returned from taking a friend from Kalasin to the Immg Office in Nakhon Phanom and while there obtained information regarding the New Immg Office which is soon to open in Sakhon Nakhon....

The very nice lady officer informed us that the new office will be located in "The Old Post Office Building behind the Police Station".... She also stated that the Office should be open and operating within the next month... They are directlng all Kalasin Residents to that office for any and all Immg Dealings from the end of Nov. forward....

Not as nice as having an office in our own City like the residents of both Udon & Khon Kaen, but at least the new office in Sakhon Nakhon will make it so that us Kalasin residents will only have a two hour drive rather than the current 3+ hour drive to Nakhon Phanom....

Tom,

I can not give you a definitive answer, but having lived here for 8+ years, I think that I have met most of the "Longterm" Farangs living in and around Muang Kalasin... Although there are several who either do not speak English or wish not to talk with those of us who do, I would estimate the total to be around 25 to 30 in the city or within say 40km of the city... A real mix of guys from German, Holland, America, England, Australia / NZ, Canada and possibly one or two I have forgotten to mention... Most are older, retired living with Thai Wife or GF....
