School bus crash.

A school bus from the new private school in Nong Wau Sor has crashed, killing the driver, who wasn't driving at the time, a male teacher was. Apparently the regular driver had complained of feeling tired so the accompanying teacher took over .Fortunately the bus was nearly at the end of its run bringing children home and only one pupil was still on board. Unfortunately she had both legs crushed and they had to amputate them. The teacher who was driving is detained in hospital . His injuries are not clear .It is believed he swerved to avoid a farm tractor, left the road and overturned .

Sadly another fatal school bus accident. Last night Friday 14th. One of those 6 wheel somtiels travelling from the secondary school near the airport to Kutjub was involved in a collision with a broken down pickup. It overturned and two teenage lads who had been riding on the roof were thrown off and died from their injuries .
I have previously seen these vehicles with as many as 20 kids riding on the roof. No chance at all if the thing had to do an emergency stop .Does no one in authority see the danger, or do they just not care ?

I see the 4 wheel version (sawngtiao) plying between the high school at Kilo 13 (Udon-Loei Rd) packed to the gills inside, and a handful or more students sitting on top. The front wheels hardly touch the surface of the road and it's only a wonder that more accidents like this don't happen.
On the Kudjab accident, 17 people were sent to the hospital in Kudjab and another 7 to Udon.
