Re: Overpass/tunnel Udon Ringroad Nongkai Hwy

Sorry if I've missed it, but has anyone confirmed what purpose the building on the SE corner serves? Not a police box, I think. Control centre for lighting, ventilation, pumping?

IT SNOWED LAST NIGHT 8:00 am: I made a snowman. . 8:10 - A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn't make a snow woman. . 8:15 - So, I made a snow woman. . 8:17 - My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman's voluptuous chest saying it objectified snow women everywhere. . 8:20 - The gay ...

Re: English Premier League 2019/20

Silly me, I wrote that completely wrong. I meant, of course, that the clock runs for ONLY 60 minutes, when the ball is actually in play.

Re: English Premier League 2019/20

..before VAR the linesman naked eye .. Yes, and I suggest the linesman judged on the upper body, not bits of leg etc. Thus, my previous post. a stop the clock timer when the game gets interrupted Wasn't there some argument for making the game 60 minutes and, as you suggest, having added time for ev...

... and a player could be off side if hes got a semi let alone a full on boner on at the time .. its that close  It's all defined by clear space between players and there's no reference to part of any players body . Is there really no further official guidance on this for VAR or, indeed, any f...

Re: English Premier League 2019/20

I think most would agree that goal line technology is great at deciding whether a ball has FULLY (using the law) crossed the line or not, although when it comes down to a millimeter or so, there are some who would prefer a human decision only and perhaps the ‘merit’ of the goal. But VAR is causing p...

Re: He's Back

A light-hearted comment about a statue. If I was disciplined for that, then common sense really has gone out the window here. Incidentally, I have been and really enjoy the massive turnout of orange when locals do pay respect. But, having now read some of the Wiki examples, I can understand Jack's p...

Thank goodness the Prince landed safely, possibly in spite of those managing it! Can you just imagine the doom and gloom predicted for Udon in the New Year, if there had been a mishap?

Re: Overpass/tunnel Udon Ringroad Nongkai Hwy

I think I'm correct to say that, in spite of the official opening ceremony, the bridge is not open to normal traffic yet. The guy doing an early morning selfie on the bridge is not, I guess, causing a problem. Perhaps the delay to opening is that I witnessed cable pulling for lights only a few days ...

To Shut Up or Not

I thought this article in the Bangkok Post was excellent. https://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinion/1797334/time-to-swim-against-the-yoo-pen-cultural-tide I’ve been part of farang rants about this and that, but I was pleased to find a Thai essentially writing about whether to shut up or not and sh...

Re: Overpass/tunnel Udon Ringroad Nongkai Hwy

The opportunity to walk/run the 2km stretch of new road is set for 7am on 23 Nov. I consulted my crystal ball and it said there'll probably be some fur balls in traffic around that time. The road is set to open on the 24th. I know you're into translating things, Parrot. An early start, but a closin...

Re: Overpass/tunnel Udon Ringroad Nongkai Hwy

The bridge/tunnel is scheduled to open on 24 Nov. Those who are instagram-conscious can walk through the tunnel on 23 Nov. Any idea of what time it will be open for "walkabout" ? I think avoiding the area may be a good idea as there will probably be at least "double" if not "treble" parking at both...

Re: Overpass/tunnel Udon Ringroad Nongkai Hwy

I'd like to think that Udon had something more interesting, attractive than old pottery as its' province image and World Heritage site. But that's just my viewpoint. The locals seem to 'push it' a lot. Actually, if the new construction requires some enhancement to its' concrete, I do like the more m...

What the f**k is the world coming to now??????
Yes, the sort of thing you'd expect on April 1st. April Fools Day for those not in the know. But perhaps the good news is that the affliction of clapping oneself/or with the audience e.g. if you gave a correct answer, will now cease?

Re: Brazen Daytime Theft

Hands up, well done the Udon police for the happy ending. So, sorry, if it didn't cause me to smile to see the farang present the senior officer in the video opportunity with a handful of flowers. Perhaps it's my age, my years of being here and experience, but I'm very sure he would have preferred s...

......I have a friend (teacher) at Udon Cristian and tbey were looking to employ native speaking English programme teachers earlier this year DM Yup - I was asked quite recently if I knew anybody who might be interested. Re: Udon Smorgasbord

Brian, I have seen the big hall used quite a bit, Last Sunday all students had to attend some session (no idea what). I dropped daughter off early Sunday morning from weekend at home and the place was buzzing. Ok, Essex. Obviously, if there isn't an alternative gathering place for student functions...

Rajaphat University in Sam Prao......what's up with that? More and more buildings going up........but a dearth of cars/motorcycles in any of the parking lots. Some of the buildings are already showing signs of age......severely-fading paint/weeds/cracks. Something doesn't seem right. Daughter lives...

Re: Technical Problems

Why is my main page and the User Control Panel indicating I have one new message, when I've opened everything in my inbox already? OR is there, indeed, a new message but it's not showing? I had fairly recent problems, which I believe 'cleared up' and was, maybe, part of the larger technical problems...
