Re: A little ray of sunshine from Australia

Will be interesting to see how the government decide to control the return of some of the so-called abandoned citizens in the upcoming future, given the stuff ups with the Ruby Princess and the hotel isolation private security who no government official seems to remember ever giving the go ahead. Ta...

Re: A little ray of sunshine from Australia

Beats me why they can't use an Ipad or similar to "attend the funeral".
They seem to use them for similar the other 23 hours in each and every day.

Re: A little ray of sunshine from Australia

The daughter was in quarantine, so obviously tested and showing no signs of having Covid 19 and also having traveled from a low risk city. They (Gov Health Officials) could have suited her up (Hazmat style) and kept her at a safe distance form others at the funeral, so where was the Risk. [-( Do it...

Re: Earthing for Hot Water Unit

again an example how something simple isn't simple for some , The guy who takes care of our electrical issues now (different to the above guy), has suggested we install a separate ground pole to earth just the heater, on the outside of the wall where it is located ie a lot closer. yes it will suffi...

Re: Earthing for Hot Water Unit

(hand to hand) (so many experienced sparkies work with one hand in their pocket.) (40 ms maximum) Electric shock does not need to go hand to hand to put ones heart into fibrillation. One hand in the pocket is a load of cobblers. I remember reading an American electrical theory directive once (from ...

Re: Earthing for Hot Water Unit

Sorry doesn't just depend on kws also depends on the cable run and what's also connected and men installed but no worries I know what I would install and that's all that matters to me. My friends E&I Engineers not just sparkies along with my brother in law who happens to be an award winning archite...

Re: Earthing for Hot Water Unit

Sorry but that sounds scary, earthing on a shower or water unit should be a minimum of 6mm cable not 2.5 Fortunately, electrical calculations on sizes follow a predetermined precalculated law of physics and are displayed for all and sundry in the SAA wiring rules. The OP quoted 4sq mm as the final ...

Re: Earthing for Hot Water Unit

Never ceases to amaze me how many seem to think that a rod driven in to the ground is going to achieve anything. As Barney says, the final sub-circuit earth should run back to the earth link in the main or sub-board, whichever applies. What happens to it there in many instances is another mis-inform...

Re: A little ray of sunshine from Australia

oh dear , will the boorish ambulance-chasers soon be making graphs and death charts for OZ as well? talk about "embarrassed to be a briton" Eh? It's helpful for members of the public to understand the risks they're facing and to evaluate how their governments might be performing. Yes, agree. Just r...

Re: A little ray of sunshine from Australia

Glasses....I wish. :D :D Been waiting for a new denture for over 9 months now. Can hardly imagine how the virus would affect that but there ya go. As a side note, original in Aus took 3 months, so while waiting, took a trip to Thailand and had current set done in a week, and at 80% less cost...........

Irresponsible ....seems they might think twice now as the law ups the charges to possible $13,000.00 fines and five years in the cooler for fraud. Good riddance to the bunch of 'em. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/queensland-women-face-dollar13000-fines-and-five-years-jail-over-border-fiasc...

Re: A little ray of sunshine from Australia

We've been pretty lucky so far up in Queensland but it would only take a one idiot as they say to start a mess like they have down in Victoria at present. Social distancing, yeah, good idea but all the places one goes, it is established when one goes in the front door or the checkouts ( if you're lu...

Re: Lightning conductor installation information

Installed a lightning system in a local hospital in Australia a few years back as part of a 1.5 million dollar electrical upgrade. Cost for that particular unit with one antenna rod was around the $20,000 mark. We do annual checks on the system and so far, after almost 10 years, not one strike has b...
