I preferred the 4 weekly system as you get it 13 times a year , and you can gain from the fluctuations in the exchange rate easier, also of course you get the bad exchange rate, but on less money .
Do you get the winter fuel allowance?

Re: Oh BOJO

Tories must have been hoping BOJO would keep his trap shut for once, but true to type he opens it big and wide and stuffs his foot in it again. If he's not coming up with a "great deal" (translates as "Perfect" in American I believe) on Brexit which includes exactly the same as what he was so stron...

Re: Worries rise as baht scales six-year high...

I first went to Thailand in 2003 and I loved it. The people were happy, my Canadian dollar went a very long way, it was not crowded and the Thais liked us being there. The interesting thing that I noticed every year when I went back was costs going up and it is still doing so along with a poor exch...

Re: Thai economy

I read in the financial press in the UK that the Thai balance of payments is strong, i.e. exports substantially exceed imports, which is why the baht remains strong.

I think you will find Amber Rudd won't be standing at the coming GE.
She was too half-hearted about Brexit and wouldn't have got in again.

Fire at Mut Mee Guest House restaurant, Nong Khai

Oh. I didn't know about this. It looks like the open restaurant area, rather than any of the sleeping rooms:

Re: Brexit: the 11th-hour brinkmanship kicks off.

After the proposal for the short timetable to discuss the bill was voted down, many suggestions were made to Jacob Rees-Mogg, the Leader of the House, of ways they might be able to compress the discussions into the time remaining before 31st October, such as sitting right across the weekend, even da...

Minor Earthquake shakes Loei province

Just spotted this, which may be of interest: A 3.9 magnitude earthquake has shaken Loei province in north-east Thailand, near the Laos border, although there are no reports of any damage. But residents were certainly talking about it yesterday as it shook the region. The quake was felt at around 12....

Re: It was never about Europe. Brexit is Britain’s reckoning with itself

You correctly state 72% of eligible votes voted. So what about the other 28%. Pollsters would use the same % from those who voted ,for the 28% who did not vote, That is why we often read about majority this and majority that from a sample of only 2000. Bottom line is , the majority voted LEAVE. I m...

Re: RECESSION?

Trump wants the Fed to cut interest rates (much) more, to stimulate the US economy and get it performing well in time for the 2020 Elections, but the Fed isn't cutting enough or fast enough for Trump. And Trump's tactics with the Chinese are going to backfire on him, as there still isn't an early en...
