Re: Income Letter

Not surprised the Australian Embassy has joined the band wagon be it though it is technically illegal, under Australian law, for them to deny "witnessing" a signature on a Stat Dec. None of their business what is written on the Declaration! The onus is on the author to declare true statements. Inter...

Re: UPS Battery

I never replaced my sealed UPS battery with a new one just turfed it (only lasted 12 months) and ran some 2.5mm Sq flexible cable from the battery connectors in the UPS to a retired pick up battery. Been ever reliable for more than 10 years now AND the battery also powers my 3BB Router thus keeping ...

Re: Income Letter

My question is can the funds required by immigration be kept in a joint account with my wife (of 11 years)? . No they can not. The account has to be in your name only. You may be able to designate your wife to receive the funds when you die. It was possible in the past but the rules may have change...

Re: Income Letter

Some time ago (for a very short time) the Aust Embassy required proof of income before signing (witnessing) our statutory declarations - instigated by some jerk on his high horse in the Embassy. This was obviously against Aust law as they are ONLY notarizing the writers signature on a legal document...

Re: Frozen Pensions for UK Pensioners

I live in farangland. I expect my farangland government to give greater weight to taxpayers such as myself over countrymen living abroad and paying no or little tax in farangland. I'm happy to pay them generous pensions if that reduces our healthcare costs for the old dudes. That is a poor post! Yo...

Re: Cost of topping up soil - per lorry/truck

Average around here is currently about 500 Baht (about 14 cubic metres or 16 tonne) - depending on how far they are traveling from the fish pond/pit they are digging. It's locally called 'Hin' (red/brown colored gravel) and the price includes a tractor for leveling.

Re: FOR SALE: Honda Wave 110cc

Just as a matter of interest:- I bought TW the same bike (color, specifications etc) at about the same (new) price 16 years ago. She sold it to our neighbor after 5 years where the servicing stopped. The bloody thing is still running a treat = couldn't kill it with a barge pole. This bike will be a ...

Re: British man and Thai wife missing in Phrae....feared dead

And one question remains = the ease this (sleeze bag of a) brother was so easily given 100K Baht by a so called pawn shop for the new Ranger! Sincerely hope the pawn shop does not get their money back seeing as though the police have impounded the vehicle! None the less the Thai Judicial system is s...

Unfortunately we humble expats can't do anything about market forces - or understand em for that matter. The AUD is also suffering against the THB, currently the lowest I have seen it since 2001.

Looking for a strong "Laser light" - being used by these effin idiots trying to blind airline pilots, for my use = Dogs and Cats ONLY at a distance. Been here too long and the olde sling shot does not work as well as it once did!

Re: Supermarket prices out of control

All this complaining is BS! Simple supply and demand! If you can't afford it go elsewhere or do without. Business is what it is! The priority is their share holders and profit margin. EVEN here in Thailand. BTW:- Last Thursday large Leo was 614 Baht in our local BigC (with their BS alcohol trading h...

Re: I give in! Where can I feed TW -------

On recommendation from a local bar manager we tried the Brick House. Very happy with it - I'd say 7/10 - An excellent rare Rib Eye Steak and Mixed Salad, included a very healthy portion of black olives :). Lost a few points over the "mashed potato" = how do you like it? one lump or two! Although the...
