You're correct, they are trying to divert the extra traffic that went home for the long holiday weekend, and also trying to avoid any floods, which are few and far between, but are still around.
Kalasin currently has some major issues.

That was another eerie point I forgot to mention about this morning's drive into work. There was a distinct lack of animal and bird sounds! I've just uploaded the Nostra/ESRI flood map and noted a few of the main locations in English. As you can see, the real deluge of water is being held back in th...

Maybe it's time to have a few weeks off work and make your way back to Udon. If only it was that easy :(, getting time off here is not an easy thing to accomplish, I'm lucky to get anything more than 3 hours off at a time at the moment! If Bangkok goes under
It was very eerie driving to work this morning, the roads here were exceptionally quiet. My usual 1 hour ++ journey only took me 35 minutes today, which was a nice touch. The Khlong that runs alongside this industrial area, looked very low compared to other journeys I have made in to work this week,...

I think viking is referring to the allowances that are available for tax payers in Thailand. You are entitled to an Tax Relief Allowance of 15,000 baht for each child you have (maximum of 3), plus 2,000 baht for each child if they attend a Thai school. Here is the Revenue Department website: http://...

It's because of the volume of Thai beef being exported to surrounding Asian countries.

Re: internet connection for laptop
No problems Valiant. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by 'last for 30 days', but I would have thought that both the dongle supplied by either 3 or Vodafone would be locked to that network and you would need to pay them for it to be unlocked. You can probably use them here without being unlocked, b...

Re: internet connection for laptop
You can, but depending on where you bought it from in the UK, it may well need to be unlocked to use here, as a number of manufacturers/suppliers lock them to use on a specific network.valiant wrote:Can you purchase a dongle in england for use in North East Thailand

Re: Microsoft Security Essentials
I have to say that I agree, for a change, MSE is certainly turning into one of the strongest 'free' all in one security software packages that are available on the market right now.
But...don't be surprised if a subscription fee gets introduced at some stage, hopefully that will never happen though.

Re: Bus times from Udoni Thani to Chiang mai (night bus)
There was a thread on this some time ago, not sure if it's still accurate though: http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/bus-to-chiang-mai-t10367.html It sounds like the bus leaves 8-8.30pm and arrives around 12 hours later. I'm hoping someone else may be able to update us with the latest information...
