Bank Of America (phishing / spam site)

For those who use Bank Of America (B of A) for internet banking...Be careful. I have used B of A internet banking for 15 + years and have never received a phishing / spam in my email. Today I received an email from B of A stating that my account has had some unusual activity and that certain functio...

Here we go again..... Mass red rally planned next week

The red shirts this time..... The ultimate showdown with the government and their protest will last "as long as it takes to get the job done" ----Claiming 200,000 to 300,000 folks will be participating. I really hope this is just saber rattling and not a re-play of the yellows. http://www.nationmult...

Re: Financing For Foreigners - Build Your Dream House

Thanks Stan

I found this

http://www.sunbeltlegaladvisors.com/Tha ... ufruct.php

which explains what it is and your options. It still seems worrisome to me. I don't like all the stipulations.

But to each his own.

Thanks again.

Re: Financing For Foreigners - Build Your Dream House

I am sorry but I can’t even keep up with the ever changing visa rules, but am I correct in that Thai law has been changed in that foreigners are able to purchase and own real estate in Thailand now? I can understand the financing of the actual dwelling, but are foreigners actually able to put land...

Re: Crime on the uprise in Udon?

I don't like to remind everyone what is happening to the economy but as we go into the slow meltdown, there will be more petty crime & major crimes happening in Thailand, and specifically Udon. And no doubt the rest of the world as well, I would assume. I don't believe it will descend here to the le...

Re: Do you feel secure in Udon?

I felt safer when I lived in the states than I do living here for several reasons. 1. I was younger and stronger. 2. I owned guns and knew how to use them. 3. In the states once you call 911 (direct line to the police) they would respond even if you could not explain what the problem was. And respon...

Re: Motorbike Mechanics in Udon

Why would you not use an authorized dealer for the type of work you want done? Sure, with after market stuff I use shops that I trust for both the motorcycle and truck. But for internal stuff like timing chains / rings / bearings I always use the the authorized dealer because you are getting genuine...

Re: Going Batty in Udon

I have never dealt with bats and I do not know how your roof access is, but I Googled it and came up with the following... From Google: Position several people around the perimeter of the house at dusk to note bats' exit sites as they emerge to search for food. It usually takes about an hour for all...

Re: The right to bear arms

Actually (according to our friend (WIKI-PEDA) less than half the states even have a grand jury and only 22 require their use at all. From WIKI-PEDA....... "The grand jury is supposed to be a check to the prosecutorial system, so that prosecutors cannot accuse people of crimes for which little eviden...

Re: The right to bear arms

Murder is undoubtedly the worst violent crime, and involves the taking of one’s life at the hands of another. Murder is divided into degrees of severity, though all forms of murder are violent crimes and punishable by prison time. First degree murder usually carries a sentence of 25 years-to-life...

WoW !!! Those estimates for the living aspect are close to what i am paying also.

Just one other expense I have is the semi monthly (take care/pocket money) for the old lady.

Maybe if I married her I wouldn't have to donate that (take care/pocket money) to her.

You guys are lucky for sure.

Gad !!! For a second I thought he was talking about Udon's taxi service.

Yes, plenty of taxi's in Bangers. In fact I read somewhere they just lowered the fare 5 baht. 30 baht instead of 35 baht when the flag drops.

I wish Udon had taxi service like Bangkok.

Re: AEK Udon Apartments

I had the occasion to rent at AEK apartments last year for a couple of months. Various room options and various prices. As I recall, 4,000-10,000 baht per month but one would / could get a discount if you rented (and paid up) for 2 months or more. Very nice staff, clean rooms, everything worked prop...
