sending files

Postby nkstan » December 24, 2010, 3:46 pm

I have a group of files on my computer that I want to send to a friend. He is unable to receive and download them on his computer as they are blocked.

What is the easiest, fastest and inexpensive way to get these files to him.

I don't have a cd writer,nor am I computer savy!

I was thinking that maybe I could download them onto floppy discs, can I?

Should I purchase a memory stick to download them onto?

Assuming the recipient of the files is local, in which case a memory stick is perfect. There's a 4 gig on sale at tesco for 249bt. You don't require 4 gig for your files and you can easily go to 1 gig (or less) and save a few bt.

A memory stick (flash drive) would work if your pal is local.

If you know a little about computers, you could perhaps ZIP them up into a ZIP file and try sending that, which sometimes gets through when other files won't.

A third option that's not too difficult is using a free online storage website; e.g.: http://www.freedrive.com or http://www.snapdrive.net. Upload your files to one of these sites, then send him the links to download them. Very handy and useful.

Just a couple more ideas.

Hi - a great way that I use is to use Google Documents. This is an online storage facility (and much more actually) that you can put pics, docs etc. Then you send the link to the person or persons. The good thing is you can set security levels so only those people you want to see the files can actually have access to them. For example if I have a folder with pictures I want my family only to see and another for friends, then friends only get to see the "friends folder" and not the ones for family.

It's also a good place to back up your pics, important docs for your self with only yourself having access to them. There are several of these types of things around, only I can't remember then names of them as I use the Google Docs one.
Cheers
