I read the article and it seems he tricked this woman to service him with no intention of payment. IMO that is obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception which as far as I'm concerned is Theft. Hence the charges which have been brought against him. Obviously the Thai police have considered this to be of a serious nature.
OK it has happened many times throughout the world, but does that make it right?

I trick my wife every time, is that illegal, subtle trickery has been going on for thousands of years, both sexes are as bad as each other. Does it make it illegal in some contexts yes, in others NO each case MUST be judged on its own merits, nowadays we have the spectre of possible sexual infection notably HIV where a man or even a woman mind altered as a result of getting HIV from another unscrupulous partner then sets out on revenge infecting as many as they can before succumbing to the disease .
Remember the film of a school irl who after having sex with a school boy was infected with Syphillis, same scenario different outcome.
Those action are to my mind not Theft, not even a con but attempted murder or even by some stretch of the imagination attempted manslaughter , but with the current laws in England if Death does not occur until after one year and one day then it is not murder, but a lesser charge.
