shipping customs duty etc..

When purchasing gifts and such to be shipped back to the US can anyone point me to info about getting it home.

Probably be better to invest in an extra bag and check it when you depart. Otherwise it's the Thai postal service. UPS exist here, but I imagine it won't come cheap.

Forgot to mention VAT tax, I believe it's 7% and you may be able to re-coop some or all for some purchases when you depart. Probably won't apply to souvenir type merchandise, but something to keep in mind. Hopefully someone more knowledge than I can post more details.

Talking about customs and excise, ie VAT, OT bought a laptop in the complex a while back, when I tried to re-claim the VAT at the airport. I got refused. Reason being that I had been in the kingdom more than 3 months. I always thought the computer was a piece of sh1t anyway.
