Some current BKK travel info

Postby Ricohoc » July 16, 2007, 7:57 am

Info for those with connecting flights between DMG and BKK or vice versa:
Took me about an hour by taxi from DMG to BKK airports on Saturday afternoon about 4pm. No stops. Traffic moved briskly.

Sunday mornings to BKK is a dream. Like driving through a ghost town before noon.

Taxis galore at DMG when I arrived. They were three columns deep waiting for fares. All metered.

I got screwed on the taxi ride though. We went through 3 toll areas, and I didn't pay attention to the toll costs on the first two. The last one was only 25 baht. At the end of the ride, the meter read 275 baht. The taxi driver wanted 500 baht. I don't see the three tolls being more than 75 or 100 baht total. My fault for not paying attention. I didn't bitch about it. He just didn't get a tip since he padded the fare.

All of the toll booths have the prices posted clearly for 2 wheel vehicles, 4 wheel vehicles, 6-10 wheel vehicles and 10+ wheel vehicles. I just wasn't watching closely enough.

But do not forget at don muang you pay on top of the meter the 50 baht fee for their parking fees??? so meter,50 baht and tollway charges. Not sure if the meter taxis at the new airport have the same 50 baht fee,don muang you get two tickets one being the 50 baht fee.

tolls shouldn't be more than 40 baht. used to be 40 + 30 from DM to sukhomvit area. so no more than 95 for tolls, 50 for airport charge and 275 (seems high by itself) and that should be your total. so he gave himself at least a 80 baht tip.
