There could be a gap in the market for 'Stick-storys' from Laos izzix....how about reaching into Laos and being the first.

" Izz-mans column " from Vientiene.

as the Laos are dirt poor maybe they will be happier with a lower monthly salary ? and less avaricious as they are more behind on the farang scamming enterprises ? theres no branch of WBU in Laos maybe its not required

Well here is one who is very happily married to a Laos lady. She and the family are not money hungry at all and in fact I get told to save more. In general Laos are less grasping than the Thais, though of course there are some dollar gleam in the eyes ladies here too.

all I know is marring a girl from Lao in Lao is not easy it much harder than marring a thai girl in Thailand
more paper work involved. I wonder how the immigration treats that let assume your married to Lao girl who is a Lao citizen and your expat and your legally married what kind of papers you must have & the requirements to live here in Thailand as man & wife

To live in Thailand as man and wife with a Laos citizen? Well you can get married in Thailand or anywhere else for that matter, but but that won't be recognised in Laos. It will be recognised in Thailand or pretty much the rest of the world.
To live in Laos? Yes, quite a lot of paperwork is required. How long it all takes is dependent on whom you know and how much you pay. It can take up to one year and cost up to $1000.00
Easiest is to get engaged in laos, get married somewhere else and then do the papers in Laos again. That will cerainly expedite matters.

Would like to hear from Ralph on this subject since he lived there for about 5 years before coming to LOS. Having said that, it seems quite obvious that it must be a bit better here - otherwise, why is Ralph now married to a Thai?

Well 747, you know the difference between a bigamist and a monogamist?

A bigamist is having one wife too many...

A monogamist is the same. :D

Well I would never live in Thailand again.. Wine is far cheaper here - as is golf. Also the women are far more attractive. You have to keep things in perspective.

1. My life isn't centered around the price of wine.

2. We might have an argument about the price of golf also the available of facilities would come into play.

3. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
