Take a short trip to China to teach English

Postby paulienet » March 7, 2010, 6:48 pm

I was wondering if you english speaking people would like to go into China to teach for either a few weeks, or in the summer for a few months...... I hear that working in Udon, or Thailand is very hard to set up.... so I am wondering if you had the chance to would you feel like taking a trip into China to teach, make some money then return to your happy Udon.... I am trying to set up this buisness in a small city in Shandong part of China and I was wondering if there was any interest in this from you's I am an american man in Connecticut usa and no this is not some kind of scam either.... My girlfriend has all the political connections needed to pull off this kind of school... her family is all through the local government, so the politics is taken care of... but she cant find americans in the USA to go because most people including me are STUCK here for one or more reasons, most people are afraid to leave what they know... but you people are #1 closer to China, #2 familiar with Asain people, and #3 seem not to be afraid to leave for a new experience..... Let me know what are your thoughts and concerns I have photo's and experiences from this mall city if your interested and they have all the comforts there and if you have ever been to China, they do treat you very well

Can you take your wife with you. I would love to see China but I'm hardly a qualified teacher.

I would like to know more.

Shantung Province is not an easy short trip from Udonthani. It is to the east of Peking and subject to cold temperatures, flooding and, in the past, famine. A short trip might be to Yunnan, Kwangtung and Kwangsi Provinces, not Shantung. This was the centre of the Boxer Uprising in 1900.

In addition, the teaching positions in Shandung available in Toronto are very low-paying although food and housing is cheap.

Thanks still sounds like a nice short adventure if the timing is right and you are not looking at making a living at it. Personally I would love to get out of this heat for a bit after seven years. Touring China on a bike is what is would really like to do. But, that is very complicated and expensive.

yup you can count me in as interested at this stage, even if Tilokarat has spread a cloud of doom and gloom...abit of grub and shelter and afew shillings in the pocket, and a classroom full of pretty chinese girls sounds like a great excusion for a few weeks or afew months..the cold, the floods, and the famine I can handle. its whats makes for a great adventure...

Maaka, I would hate to be a spreader of doom and gloom, but the schools are for boys only. Good luck with that. 55555

I'm only joking. Anyway, you will find the pretty girls around Canton (Gwongchow) and Swatow (Shantou), not in the wind and dust of Shantung. 55555

If I was Single, and thus not so deep into debt that I can't dare Retire, I'd certainly consider such a venture.

I am happy to hear from so many.... I will work on the details and perhaps throw together a quick website to show you around what I know as SHANDONG area. and start working on the numbers $... I had a good time in the area, the air was good and the people will treat you like a celebrity because you are rare in numbers...
