I've see this attitude with people in my wife's village. Encouraging daughters to find a rich foreigner to marry when they grow up. Gee, why not do your job as a parent and encourage her to get a good education!

Thai men must measure up in other ways as a lot of farangs find out that the lady of their choice has a brother or other relative that serves as a boyfriend whenever the farang is out of sight. Thus, this is just another myth that does not hold up to close scrutiny.
