Thai microbreweries

Post by tutone » November 27, 2015, 2:25 pm

Saw this today on one of the internet news pages. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/11/26/fooda ... index.html

Would be nice to have some more beer options here. Does anyone know of any thing like this in the Udon area?

Nearest micro brewery to udon would be a very nice fella called Jo based approx 200km away (dont want to give his actual locality but drop me a call or email and will give you directions) dam good beer , actually asked me to stock it in the Tap but as the article you highlighted states it is an underground activity and illegal.

Craft Micro brewed beverages are becoming more n more popular around the world ,,,i love em .

It is probably illegal to sell it to you as I am not sure of the laws in Thailand but maybe legal to brew it on the premises for resale..
I attended the opening night of the Brau House in Pattaya as the Manager at the time was a friend of mine.
This was about 16 years ago & it is still operating today & as far as I know still brewing the beer on the premises.
It must be classed as a Micro Brewery & is very successful.
See website listing showing it maybe you can brew it with a license & sell it on the premises???.

Im sure the laws here will allow some sort of loophole to make it a grey enough area highlighted above .. i remember the Brau House in Patts from years gone by cant comment if its still going but was a cracking night with a good live band and the grogg was as you say brewed on premises .

Im all for these micro breweries they make some superb super fresh beers Jo had an excellent choice , Dao n I are going over to his place for a little break over the holidays next weekend so can report back on our return.

I would think the big boys like Singha and Chang etc have the commercial side sewn up ,,i did read there was a law that to be classed as a commercial brewer you had to produce 5 million bottles per month therefore cutting out the smaller guys and hey presto a monopoly is formed...TIT
