Thai Survival Skills.....Rubber Bands and Plastic Bags.

Postby beer monkey » June 5, 2008, 10:42 pm

Those annoying tiny rubber bands you get on plastic bags to seal them, very fiddly little things as the bags have usually got food stuff inside, and to me it's a bit irritating, especially if the bag has steaming hot noodle soup inside too much pressure when trying to unravel to rubber band and 'booooof' you get some spillage all down your white suit....i guess if you have delicate ladys fingers and a bit of patience it works out ok.

Anyway heres 'How Too' operate these little sealing devices.(only 1 minute 10 seconds vid, loads fast)

It never comes off like that for me!

Same as BM, I end up wrestling it for about half an hour, the sweat pouring off me as if that little rubber band had been a Grizzly Bear.
Give up and wait for the missus to return, inform her I wasn't hungry but am feeling peckish now so would she mind putting it in a bowl for me as she already up.
Three seconds later it appears in the bowl as requested #-o

BM, you actually have me thinking about this and I hate it when I have to think...

Can you not just roll the elastic band off?

Tomorrow I'll be looking at 'er indoors to see what she does with her take aways.... Now look what you have gone and made me do!

Thai's can get them off with ease, i have ripped a hole in the bag before but that doesn't go down to well.

No IA, if only it was as simple as you say.......if the rubber band has been put on as a street vendor would do, they do not just roll off, they fit very tight in fact 'air-tight', there is a certain knack to it, but i don't think it is in our genes.... have a go next time you get something in a plastic 'ballooned' bag with the tiny rubber band especially piping hot noodle soup. :irked:
