Thai Wives Divorce Foreign Husbands In Droves

Postby jackspratt » January 11, 2008, 5:55 pm

BANGKOK - Thai women who have married Western men for money are now divorcing their husbands in record numbers, Not The Nation has learned.

At least one Thai wife in Nakhorn Ratchasima divorced her farang husband because he was not attentive and tried to impose his culture on her, according to an NTN reporter based in Bangkok who heard the story over drinks one night with a friend, also from Bangkok, who has distant relatives in Isan who relayed the story over recent New Year’s Eve festivities.

It is believed that many other Thai wives are also divorcing their husbands, although no statistics could be obtained.

Yes, it's satire, taking the pist out of Farang guys marrying Isarn women in droves. I agree with the article that many Thai wives are tired of hearing from their drunk husbands how great their culture is. Always comparing their home to Thailand, saying how good it is.

Oh! really?

I thought it was about taking the "pist" out of the numerous articles and stories appearing in newspapers and elsewhere, quoting so-called statistics and anecdotes as "evidence" of Issan wives divorcing farang husbands in droves.

I must read the article again :-k

I think the problem of divorce rates is because foreigners don't marry normal Thai woman. They prefer to tie the knot with the worst of the worst, Thai men leftovers.
They are a lot of nice girls in Udon, it just takes a bit of time to get the ball rolling.

Perhaps you could give us an idea of your background and experience tommy - so we can decide how much weight to give to your posts/opinions when you talk about "normal" "worst of the worst", "leftovers", "drunk husbands", "lying to yourself", reality check" etc - and all that in just 6 posts

As for drunk and reality check i got the idea from this article and other member. So that i may weigh some of the scolding members comments against me on the other forum (much much worse than anything i have said) maybe you can tell me about yourselves too.

For me I've been in Thailand on and off for 10 years and i am married to a nice woman from Udon.

i don't about the stories, but there was one news on korat or khon kaen, of the 237 some, yes that's a guess, on memory, although not long ago, i think 100 were farangs/thai relationships, talk about a negitive percentage. 8)

yea right, sign me up.
