Thaksin passport issue confirmed by F.O.

Well there you have it.

They have been lying since October and this includes the PM and all the other ministers who have denied it.

URL :- http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/politic ... ban-lifted

Part quote :-

Mr Chavanond said he had received an email message from a Foreign Ministry official who wrote under the pseudonym ''Buakaew Saiphanmai'' (new blood of the ministry). The message said the ministry had issued a passport to Thaksin on Oct 31.

On Dec 2, Foreign Minister Surapong said his ministry would issue a passport for Thaksin very soon.

Unquote.

The lying backstuds, never mind the flood situation was ongoing ect. what a disgrace.

WTF

so, a rumor sent under a pseudonym allegedly from the Foreign Ministry just rubs you the wrong way. Certainly someone in Thai Immigration will check the renowned "black list" to see if Taksin Shinnawatr is gone from the list.. Fact or Fiction?? more FACTS less rumor please!

If you read the article in full you wil note the reference to the pseuonym refers to yesterday and it is confirmed today by the foriegn office spokesman they did indeed issue it as stated.

You may also care to read the article from the Nation on the matter and the fact that it was announced and confirmed it happened also.

No need for Immigration to check it out. either for blacklisting as it has already been removed.

( As if they didn,t already know that some days ago... :-" )

Don't understand what all the fuss is about. A passport is everyones birthright regardless. Now if they issued a diplomatic one I can see the problem . Think about it. Now he has his passport back he could even return to face his accusers . :-"
Maybe that's what they are frightened of .

Under numerous passports and national identities, he has been free to return since he fled in 2008.

I suspect it is he who is frightened to return - and hopefully with very good reason.

I'm not saying you have to accept it, but the sooner you get used to the idea that the man is coming back....albeit maybe not with the open arms that he'd prefer and not with the handcuffs that many others would prefer, the easier life will be for you here.

Me personally, I have a harder time with some politician's son jumping the border to escape murder charges.....and then coming back home and ending up a politician himself than I do with the charges against Thaksin. I'm a fan of neither, but accept that my views don't mean much here.

While I understand and agree with your sentiments in relation to Chalerm, 1 murder and other crimes are really small beer when you look at K. Thaksin's war on drugs.

The man is a scourge that Thailand can well do without.

""He's the people's choice, like it or not."

So was Hitler, Mao, "Papa Doc" Duvalier, Stalin & a host of other despicable creatures.

"Me personally, I have a harder time with some politician's son jumping the border to escape murder charges.....and then coming back home and ending up a politician himself than I do with the charges against Thaksin"

There's no difference between the two. They're both criminals who evaded justice with the consent of the power brokers who unfortunately run this circus.

You have to be kidding if you are putting Thaksin in the same league as Hitler, Mao and Stalin. It demonstrates a severe lack of understanding of what these people were about.

In addition, history seems to indicate that Hitler did not gain power through the achievement of a near-majority of the voters, and Stalin seemed to have got to the top of the greasy pole through internal politics, not through the will of the voter. Mao seemed to a better, less corrupt, choice than Chiang K'ai-shek, whom Mao defeated in a civil war. At the time of his rise to power no-one seemed to remember the events of the anti-Bolshevik campaign in the 1930s, the policy to grow and trade opium in the 1940s, nor the rectification campaign, also in the 1940s. The upshot is that you would be very hard pressed to place Thaksin at the head of a campaign to eliminate people a la Hitler, kill millions as Stalin did, or head ridiculous campaigns like Mao's Great Leap Forward, and the Cultural Revolution that led to the deaths of 70 million or so Chinese.
