The All New Mojo's Sunday Roast Lunch

Postby Freedom Fried » March 10, 2007, 12:56 pm

Dear Forumites

starting on Sunday 18th 2007, Mojo's are offering a roast lunch for only 99 baht.

Yep, 99 baht!

This is an introductory offer (for three weeks, I think). I've tried their Yorkshire pudding and was most impressed.

Constructive criticism is encouraged by Tony and Thursten. They, like any new business owners, need customer feedback so no stiff upper lips please, chaps and chapettes :D.

[Now can I have my free beer please, Thursten?]

BTW the Saturday men's pool competition is now at 6pm.

The prizes remain the same:

1st prize: THB 3,000

2nd prize: THB 1,500

3rd prize: THB 500

4th prize: THB 0.25

You can also 'Challenge Tony', he's the dude from New York with the dodgy haircut #-o.

Name your price but be warned, he is very good. I owe him two Malibu & Cokes already .

It's been awhile since I was in there.
I hope the new owners utilize the A/C system.
The last time I was there (previous management), the staff offered to turn it on, but it would've taken awhile for it to cool the place down. A lot longer than I was willing to wait.
To be fair the same could be said for The Horseshoe.
Also, the same could be said for City Lodge.
What's the old saying, "you can attract more flies with honey, rather than vinegar". Well, let's substitute customers for flies and A/C for the honey.

I wish the new owners success.

The A/C is on quite often now -- it's been upgraded.

There has been a huge improvement overall at Mojo's. A credit to T 'n T's efforts and their substantial investment.

Good chaps and great staff.

Alan would kick himself if he saw the place now .

I was at Mojo's New Year's Eve (don't get out much these days LOL), and the food was exceptional. If the food on the menu is as good as their buffet was then I would highly recommend this place. :D

The Sunday roast sounds like a top deal, thanks for the information.

Maybe I missed something in the translation but Sunday lLunch was not there.

I was there at 1220PM. Ask about lunch and a 99 baht deal. They told me breakfast off the menu was on sale for 99 baht and that was all.

Figured maybe they needed it in Thai so went that method. Still handed the breakfast menu again.

Ow well went to another establishment for Roast Beef.

I think that they keep on serving until close to closing time. Not sure. I was there about 10:00 and they were serving someone.

Yesterday (Sunday) I decided that I would try the 99 Baht Sunday Roast Beef dinner at Mojos.

Got there about 5:00 PM ordered a beer and the dinner. About 10 minutes later the dinner arrived on a large platter. The dinner consisted of roast beef, roasted potatos, mixed vegetables (peas and carrots), Yorkshire pudding and a small pitcher of gravy.

I like rare beef - and this was very rare beef. It was so rare that it wasn't even hot - very cool to the touch. Rather than big pieces of beef, it was kind of like the end shavings from a larger piece of beef. No flavor at all. Fortunately, they provided salt, pepper and horseradish sauce to give it some flavor. But, it was far from being hot - the hottest part of the meal was the gravy.

The potatos were small - and over cooked. Dry and without flavor. Slightly less than warm - but not quite cold.

Was this meal a "one off?" I would say, probably not - since I was the only person eating at the time. So, that would mean that the cook / chef was not exactly "busy."

Giving them the benefit of the doubt - I would give it another shot at the 99 Baht price. For that price, one could say that it wasn't too bad. But, if the price goes up, I don't think that I would give it another try.

that is something that bothers the hell out of me. obviously the cook knows if hot or not, ok, maybe not, but should. ok, i don't want the cook sticking his finger in my food to check the temperture, hey, but if i don't see it, ignorance is bliss. what puzzles me, if not hot, and i like me food hot, very, so i get turned off alot at restaurants, simply because a mere 30 seconds in any microwave, on high, will heat up anything and not change the texture or flavor of the meal. for reasons, beyond reason, no restaurants seem to use them. especially since all things, especially sunday specials aren't going to be made fresh with every order. that's why it doesnt' bother me tool much that most restaurants seem to serve food when prepped, rather than try to serve the whole meal for all members at a table at once. especially since they don't have heat lamps to keep things hot while waiting for the other dishes to be finished.

that sounded a little rare to me, as i prefer just a bit of pink and juice in the center of my char-broiled steak, so cut them thick. but roast beef, if cooked nicely, can get away with being a bit rare. bummer, hopefully a one off, maybe everyone important was on break, and the chore got passed down to the lowly dishwasher who was more interested in going home than prepping the meal.
