The Baan Carabao

Postby PopsIcafe » August 25, 2008, 1:33 pm

Here's a new place to eat, Italian and Thai dishes. I was on my way to another restaurant, but, decided to check out my friend Tony and his wife. They have been open a few weeks now, and I finally got there to really enjoy a pasta dish my Aunt Paula made. Lasagna, she was the queen of Lasagna. Her Lasagna had 4 cheeses, great tasting sauce, and beef. She would be up at 4 or 5am in the morning to start it. Pasta for the Lasagna had to be homemade. Delicious is far from the description that it deserved, along with other pasta and salad dishes.

Tony, his wife, and partner Enrico are running the Baan Carabao. I ordered the Lasagna, for reasons mentioned above. About 10 minutes or less, they brought out a very large portion of Lasagna. It didn't look like the one my Aunt Paula had made it. What I should have done was, to have ordered Vino with it, instead of a LEO. The Lasagna was still good with the beer. It had a smooth tasting cheese, sauce was tasty (surprisingly the way I like my sauce to taste)distinct tomato taste, and the pasta melted in my mouth with every bite. The Lasagna was priced at 145 baht. With the large Leo all came to 200 Baht, tasty and filling.

The menu is kinda pricey, but, with the portion given, it makes up for that. Beer is reasonably priced, large Leo was 55 baht. There are other Italian dishes, which I will try in the very near future. They do have entertainment starting at about 7 pm. The Baan Carabao opens from 11 am until midnight. They have a grand opening Sept 9th, which I recommend you attend, especially since there is going to be some very special guests coming and possibly performing on stage. Tony asked to let you all know about the this.

I went to Baan Carabao last week and enjoyed a very good meal.

I had lasagne, which was very tasty. I thought the pasta, which is home made was very smooth. Tony, the host ensured everything was OK. Will return again.

The surprise of the evening was seeing Tony's Lamborghini. Probably the last make of car I'd expect to see in Udon.

You all are really missing out. Enrico is excellent with the pasta dishes. My nest time there will for some ravioli, as that is also one of my favorite pasta dishes.
