What kind of service is that?????I am reconsidering my patronage of that establishment!!!Oh yeah,I have a 900 baht book credit, maybe I''l wait a while before I tell you how I really feel :-# :-# I might even give them another chance next Saturday ,at the ''get together'',to make amends.

Oh yeah,I should mention the Jeremy allowed 4 chess players to exclusively ''hog'' the outdoor table that I wanted to sit at,so that is another complaint and there was no place for my little doggy to take a pee either!

It is just terrible, is it not. Everything is going down the drain. Except most of the water. But I think you misunderstood, Stan. The doorman is usually hiding inside chatting with the staff ladies. If you had just made a call in and told him that you were waiting outside for him to come and nurse you inside, I am sure you would have been inside in a jiffy. With your dog. The boat was, however, unavailable today, it was for some reason full of water.:fryingpan:

Why has the title of this thread been changed from The Bookhouse & Coffee Shop to Sunday Dinner Today? That's how it reads from the homepage :?

As a Frenchman I am not keen on British food  but having spent some time around Maidenhead I do remember an excellent beef Wellington and never had a bad meal in The UK except at some London Chinatown Chinese buffet. Even liked some fish & chips there.

Thus we tried the Sunday roast and we both choose turkey.
Excellent I would say, I only have one negative comment: the sauce you Brits call gravy? All was swimming in that sauce, I rather would like that gravy to be served separately (in how ya call that? a saucer?) and add the quantity of sauce to my liking. On our next Sunday roast visit can we ask that?

One minor glitch with our order, wife ordered beer Leo, myself Chang, this was made clear by the lady of the house Miss L. The lady serving us, wearing a striped black & white T-shirt over a mocha brown gown brought a bottle of Leo with a glass full of ice, to which my wife said in Thai "no ice". As a result the glass with ice disappeared, leaving my wife with just the bottle  and myself without a drink. It took her some time to realize something was amiss, so we got the second beer and glasses sorted out after some laughter. Now my wife was a waitress in a previous life and had some problems understanding the glitch, surprisingly she took it with humor.

We will be back for some more books and some roast when I will crave non-Thai food.
I might try the lamb or the beef for a change.
You have a nice place to relax after the stressful work of choosing books with a drink or some food

One thing i have noticed about gravies is the following.

English gravy using Oxo ( available at Chern Chim ) is thinner and has a more fluid like structure base.

Australian gravy using Gravox ( available in Tops - Central ) usually has a thicker base, but can be thinned down according to the water added.

French gravy, same constistency as soup, very thin and watery

Nakornstan aka Kazakhstan , still trying to work out how to open the packets . let alone preparing it.

Having looked at the menu and the prices all look very resonable, but are the vegatables boiled and tender or still hard as in another very popular eatery near the Cow Shed??

looks like there could be a race for tables next Sunday
