Best breakfast in Udon Thani - in my opinion - even in this weather the courtyard is tops.

By the way; has Shrewsbury Wayne left town yet? The place will be safer   (Only joking)

Postby Librarian » May 29, 2010, 10:36 am

i made a mistake

Tomorrow , Sunday the 30th May ( and not June ) is the start of our 3 meat choice Traditional Roast Sunday Dinner .

we have a choice of (Thai-French Sirloin Tip ) Roast Beef , Turkey , and Pork
you can choose 1 , 2 or all 3 meats when ordering .
Roast and Mashed Potatoes
Peas, Carrots , Broccoli , Cabbage
Yorkshire Puddings
and a homemade rich meaty gravy .
all for 195baht - and yes .. the price still includes a FREE drink of choice. water , Beer , Juice , Coffee etc ( doesnt include our 1927 Moet Champagne by the glass :D )

we take the Roast Potatoes out from the oven at about 12 , 2pm - 4pm and 6pm so they are always nice and crispy for both the early birds and the late eaters !

on a side note , i say *we * quite a bit but everyone knows its Mrs L and mother in law that do all the cooking and hard work 8)

anyhow , we all look forward to seeing you soon

Had the good fortune of try the Sunday carvery prior to heading back to Canada last month. Highly recommend it. I also developed a nasty addiction to their sausage casserole =D> if you're looking for other culinery delights during the week. In addition to great food, Librarian and family are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Looking forward to seeing them on my next trip over. \:D/

A friend and self visited the Book House yesterday to consume the Sunday lunch for the first time.
It was a pleasure meeting, Jeremy, and Nok. They are both very nice, hard working, accommodating people.
Nok does all the cooking herself, and does a fine job, in deed. The extra large plate served was full of a variety of vegetables, home cooked and mashed potatoes, topped with non greasy lightly fried onions, three kinds of meat, all swimming in plenty of good tasting light meat gravy.
Jeremy, always at the ready, was courteous, and helpful.
Sitting in the AC book room for dinning was a bit of a treat, quite, cool, surrounded with plenty of great books to check out before sitting down to a fine meal.
An enjoyable experience at the Book House for Sunday Lunch.

The Book House and Coffee shop is fast becoming the top venue to eat and drink in Udon as far as falangs are concerned. It's not surprising really considering the place has everything, is good value and is run very well.

OT....... \:D/

the book house, not the best name for a resturant but what a suprise anyone who wants a book will get. Not only the selection of books but you can also sit and read the menu (may take a while) then sample the food and im sure anyone who visits will be more than happy to come away with their favorite read and enjoyable food.Well done on combining the two.Great thinking from the owner, good luck

As always the comments keep coming from customers who have tasted the food and enjoyed the ambience of The Book Shop with its restaurant.
My compliments to the couple who made this possible jeremy and Nok, whose own obvious pleasure in giving the customer what they want is paying great dividends, both in customer support and satisfaction.
In these times when the internatinal currencies are going through the hoop as it were, to have a business which in the main caters to the foreign population that gropws and is also achieving excellence is something that should be applauded.
So from us all I personally say THANKS to jeremy and his wife and her mother for providing us all with not only a resource that was sadly lacking but also a restaurant which will go from strength to strength .
The costs are reasonable on everything and it is a price I personally feel is worth paying.

its Sunday Roast Dinner time again !

Postby Librarian » June 6, 2010, 8:40 am

morning folks :D

Mrs L has been busy again , preparing for our Traditional Sunday Roast Dinner later today

same as last week by popular demand , we have 3 meats .Beef , Turkey and Pork plus all the trimmings . you can choose 1 , 2 or all 3 meats
still for only 195baht and STILL with a free drink of choice

my contribution to the Mr and Mrs L partnership is promoting the business here , there and everywhere else . no wastage equals no price increase so please ignore my ramblings if they offend

a few changes coming to the BookHouse soon , are notably , a small roof extension over about 20% of our courtyard - once this is completed we are extending our kitchen to give much needed space and proper extraction ! .. more space plus less problems when it rains !

We have just purchased the contents of a friends restaurant that he closed in Pattaya .. more fridges , freezers , cooker , meat slicers and coffee machines etc etc ( Happy Birthday Mrs L !! :D )
when the kitchen extension is complete we will be introducing our DAILY Specials.. Mexican Mondays , Tuna Tuesdays , Fishy Fridays etc all with a special price / offer like FREE Desserts or Free Drinks or a free Thai Dish .

our main Meat/ Pastry supplier KPK Foods ( google it ! ) has offered us the Udon Franchise for his meat products. as he makes his own Sausages , cures his own Hams , Bacon etc it is a unique range of products ONLY available to the BookHouse in Udon Thani .

we will be selling a small range of KPK , from the freezer ONLY products , uncooked by weight . with the added bonus you can try all products in our Restaurant to decide if you are going to like them . The frozen Bacon , Sausages , Steaks , Gammons , Cod , KFC Style Chicken etc etc will ONLY be available to individual customers and NOT business owners . ( pointless everyone selling the same food creating unneccesary competion )

if any care to look at KPKFoods ( google it ) we can take orders for products we dont intend to carry and add them to our deliveries..

finally , while i,m here in a typing fest mood, Thanks to Paul from Paul Dee Hairdressing for allowing us to host your lovely wifes Surprise Birthday Bash last night . 20+ people eating and drinking and having fun was a pleasure to be involved in - thankyou and thanks as always , Mrs L for the hard work =D> i,ll post some pictures later !
and good to see our very own Lee , and Mrs Lee and Baby Lee :D enjoying themselves

well , thats the end of Todays - Sunday update

see you for Lunch
