I've always used buses in Thailand as a last choice.

I'd say the route 109 from London's Brixton High Street, to Croydon is far more dangerous, wear a stab vest.

Never take a bus in South London. Always drive by car ensuring my doors are always locked. Stopping at red traffic lights is just another hazard 8-[

The Bus may be more Dangerous than you Thought

Back in 1995, my kids and I took a scarlet/cream bus from Hastings to London, and when getting off the driver sped away leaving me and my son on the pavement. I was unconscious for 7 hours, and have lost my sense of smell. Subsequently, my wife asked me about Jennifer, an old flame from Hong Kong living in Saskatoon, who I apparently kept mentioning whilst in the land of nod.

There are no accidents to report in my 36 years of travel by that mode of transport (air-con, and non air-con bus) in Thailand from Chiang Saen to Singapore, Chiang Mai to Ubon, and Khorat to Udonthani.

Yes, people do get injured and killed on buses in the UK. Admittedly i have travelled many more times in the UK than in Thailand, but so far have not been knocked down the stairs of a bus in Thailand. on a bus which caught fire in Thailand or a bus which has had an accident in Thailand; all of which have happened in the UK. I would say i tend to only travel long distance in Thailand on!st class buses run by the BKS or other sanctioned companies. Private buses are only interested in making money and cut corners (same in UK).

Never been to UK, so can't comment upon the buses there.

In Thailand the bus could be considered a mass murderer.

A crowded Bangkok-Si Sa Ket tour bus collided with a pick-up truck in Buri Ram's Nang Rong district yesterday morning, killing 12 people and injuring 15.
