Well, you see (hopefully) that was not the case so you can stop trying to find excuses for the rudeness of the Thai couple. Especially as you were not there at the time.
Another angle of this is if a customer orders something to be picked up the next morning but fails to do so, the producerr is free to sell it the day after. This is a question of making a verbal contract. You order something to be made and to be picked up at a certain time. If you don't, then you have not fulfilled your part of the contract and the other party can try and regain some of his costs by selling to someone else.
