The effect a movie can make!!

Postby BKKSTAN » July 16, 2008, 5:42 pm

I watched a movie last night called''The murder of Princess Diana''!

I know it was ''just'' a movie, but I can't help thinking about the intimations made in the movie about her being murdered and it being covered up purposely, even to the length of the sudden deaths of supposive witnesses to the sudden disappearance of tapes and videos .Even claimed that police officers ,not buckling under to the closing of the case, were murdered to stop them.

The strong inference is that the Brits were manipulating and had somehow set her death up,actually murdering her!Reasons werethat she was pregnant by a Muslim and that she was uncontrollable in her political views and Royal family secrets!

I don't know anything about it,never followed the news about her, before, during or after her death!

So the movie portrayal was like a shock(makes me wonder how movies like fahreinheit 911,Kennedy assassination and others, effect people that never were interested before) to me!

I started thinking, this movie was presented as fact with real names and events recorded and stated! How can this be without a fervor going on either side of the issue!

Is it like a taboo subject,is it because if it is true, the public doesn't want to know or is it a policy decision by the British gov't to not debate or proceed with liable prosecutions!

This thinking has put me in the camp that says if you are not going to answer or deny the charges,I am left with a very negative view of Prince Charles and the British security organizations!

The most of all,I am amazed how my mental tendencies can be so highly influenced by a movie and see it as a possible major player for manipulation in politics!

I had similar thoughts when I recently watched a movie called "Rendition".

All about an innocent guy (long time US resident) getting whisked away from JFK (?) airport on a private jet after returning from a trip to South Africa, and then being rendered by the CIA to a nameless north African country where he was subjected to brutal torture, including waterboarding, electrocution etc etc.

Movies are meant to have a powerful effect, as was the case (on me) with this one.

I have the DVD, and happy to lend it to anyone who wants to watch it.

Whilst not really anything to do with the main point of your topic, I have to say I was moved and highly impressed with the very powerful speech that Diana's brother (Earl Spencer) made at her Funeral service in Westminster Abbey.

It was one of the most impressive speeches I have ever heard. It included some subtle but clear nudges at the Royal Family.

Re your main point, I have to agree the film JFK left me wondering and speculating, about conspiracy theories, though personally I don't think there was any conspiracy in Diana's case. For example, if someone had set out to cause the car crash, how could they be sure of the end result they wanted? It's a bit hit and miss.
