The End of Empire ??

This must be what happened to Rome in its last days before moving the seat of Government to Constantinople.
Madness. A nation eating its own . Orwell was not far out was he??

Nevket, Is this intended to be a debate, a News item or an open forum post? It's certainly nothing to do with Udon Thani General Topics!!

That was a good piece and also very true. I believe they call it social engineering but what else do you expect from the British Labour Party? The Nanny State has gone too far over the past 12 years, there doesn't seem to be any pragmatism or reasonable common sense any more.

Yes i read the article in 'the australian', and it is true many items i can remember reading about at the time. But i agree with westerby that it is the government who have allowed the 'liberal elite' to run the show. I loathe political correctness as it is in Britain now, as do the vast majority of the people i'm sure, but what can you do? I am sure when New Labour are booted out of office next May, sanity will start to return! :D

The article is some what true. My wife, working in the NHS, is afraid to speak what she thinks because she has twice been threatened with disciplinary action. Unfortunately, due to bad temper, she acts rather than thinks, so they will get her one day. Old fashioned, 'sound' advice is no longer allowed. Many 'minorities' in Uk have been obviously coached in what to say to get accomodation from the state - although a few more 'unexpected' questions soon prove they are lying. But nothing can be done - discrimination you know. Automatic jail and deportation (where relevant) for fraud is what is needed.
As for the teachers mentioned in the article, a nice dose of there own medicine is needed. Make yourself a minority, then no-one can push you around.

Not having rad the Australian, I cannot comment on the article, but having worked as my family did in the health and protection service of the government, I can concur amny are afraid to speak, many so-called do-gooders are running the show the liberalisation of the country is setting the rot.
One hopes that it will turn aroundin the not too distant future.
When my brother left because he could see no future he reminded his staff that patients are first and foremeost and everyone else second, the so called head of the hospital agreed and then walked out to his brand new BMW bought as his company car..nuff said.
Oh and I do feel that the ethnic englishman, welshman, scotsman and irishman are now in the minority........

For what its worth, I think its something to do with the manipulation of the pseudo-intellectual thinking classes.
Keep these people in the pocket of the "government" and they will be pre-occupied with some irrelevant distraction rather than look at the bigger picture. But then again what do I know, I've been on the 'kin Leo all afternoon.
