So what's your point? After all it is the Professional Golfer's Association of America Tour and Master Lewis is a relatively unknown amateur outside of the EK. I think when and if he turns professional and plays regularly in the US the PGA Tour will be more than happy to post his photo.

I didn't know, he was an "amateur"... I just look at him everyday because he was in first place the first day. PGA TOUR's site has picture of every PGA players no matter where they are coming from but if Tom Lewis is not a member of the PGA, I unsdrestand. I have no point, I just follow happily THE BRITISH OPEN.

The Open 2011

Great day yesterday.
Those going out very late had a huge advantage as the weather improved significantly as the day went on.
Most watchers thought Tom Watson was the player of the day. He took 72 (2 over par) but it really was a remarkable round to watch in absolutely awful conditions. Sadly the better condition later on allowed many players to better his score when they would have undoubtedly suffered in similar conditions.
In comparison Darren Clarke had a rather 'average' round in better playing conditions. However he kept himself very controlled in carding a 1 under par 69. He must go out today with great hope of finishing first but the course is one where any false shot can mean a very large score.
The weather will undoubtedly play a role in todays' final round. Very dark & overcast in UK at the moment but it is the wind that is the huge variable.
The one thing that I will say is that for all the atrocious conditions yesterday the event was hugely supported by the crowd. While the UK golf supporters certainly have their favourites it was nice to see that all the players were roundly applauded for playing in very trying conditions.

The BRITISH OPEN is over. On the Open's site it is written: ÈAnother major goes to Northern Ireland. The surprise was Darren Clarke's name on the Claret Jug."
Darren Clarke won against the wind and bad weather. Two "old players" were a the top of the list (Darren Clarke and Phil Michelson). Darren who was, before the tournament, 111th in "the official world golf rankings" played a solid game and he has a lot to teach to the younger players.

Interesting last day in which the weather was not the monster it was in the first 3 days - although it certainly was still not pleasant.
The rather forgotten man of American golf, Mickelson, appeared to be the man to mount a challenge. He stormed out over the first 9 holes which had played so difficult over the first 3 days & looked like he would set a total that had to be beaten. However, he missed a put on the 11th. that seemed to bring him back to the problems of the course & stuttered over the closing holes to finish with a 68.
Then, last man, playing with Clarke, Dustin Johnson seemed to be giving his playing partner a real battle. However a single out of bounds shot ceased the momentum.
So Clarke rather eased his way around a final round to win it. Nothing spectacular just 4 days of no nonsense golf. It resulted in rounds of 68, 68, 69 & 70 that rather deserved to beat both the weather & the other competitors.
Poor competition for English golfers seeing that they are near the top of the world rankings, Dyson, in 9th. place was the highest finisher. Rather a better result for American golfers that a wet & windy link course competition would normally result in with exactly half of the top 10 finishers being from the States.
