Mash, hope you didn't put any money on Edfors. He's not qualified to play in this years Open. If I was looking for a Swedish winner Peter Hanson looks reliable or Fredrick Jacobson who has been in good form in the US.

Mash, think you might be a bit mixed up on your Major Championship winners...... Mr. McIlroy was leading the Masters after 3 rounds but had a major melt down and shot an 80 in the final round... but he pulled it together and waxed the field in the US Open a couple weeks ago.

Well spotted sir you detected my carefully selected and well placed mistake just to see if the readers were paying attenton , indded Mcliroy decemated the field i the US Open whilst he left Charl Shwarzkoff to blow away all in the Masters ........10 out 10 or observation mr Chuk , a free bagel on your next visit just point yourself out to claim the prize .......... n bring ID with you ok .

mash ......... whats a leftie ?? is it opposite to a righty ??

mash .

Hope you don't mind. Moved your question over to this thread.

Everybody and his dog fancies McIlroy this weekend, so I'm avoiding him. I'm playing safe and going for the worlds, 1:2. Donald and Westwood. For my long shot I fancy Garcia for a top 5 finish.
I previously mentioned Peter Hanson. I fancy him for a top 10. He played well last week in Scotland. Had a bad last round but still finished equal 10th. 3 shots better and he would have been second.

Now I've put the "kiss of death" on those 4 their probably miss the cut now. :D

You can't tell with the American players. You'd think they would be at a disadvantage playing a links course but one or two always plays well. Look at the list of unfashionable American golfers who have won the open recently, Leonard, O'Meara, Duval, Curtis and Cink.
As much as I would like Mickleson to do well I can't see it. His short game is honed for the high flop type of shot required for the American cct, not the bump and run that a links course requires. Hope he comes second behind an English player. :D

My hearts with Mickelson as I am a lefty but my head has me leaning toward Luke Donald..... or maybe time for Paddie Harrington to make a major comeback.

The Open's winner is always a surprise. John Daly won it and a french man came close... he was 3 shots in advance on the last hole and lost... I think he doesn't sleep since that day. But I think Rory Mc Ilroy is my favorite... he learn a lot from the Master... and he was dominant as Tiger Woods (in the good days) at The Open. Luke Donald is a really good player now the best in the world. But Lee Westwood can make a surprise and one of those days it will be Rickie Fowler wearing cloths s the prisonner who cleaned the road in front of CC! :D

A supri winner would be good but world golf is geting a bit breakaway with 7 or 8 players moving away from the rest ,the great Tom Watson on telly last neet he reckons Tigers doomed needs new knees (and a new mental attitude imo) i cant see him ever being the dominant force he was before .

Jean Van De Velde waas the French fella who went ting tong on the last hole trying to play out of water - made ahuge and very costly mega bogey .

Per Ladbrokes McIlroy 8/1, Westwood and Donald 12/1 and Mickelson at 40/1........ and Bubba Watson at 100/1.
