The President of America

Postby spaul » August 20, 2010, 9:34 pm

This morning, CNN were claiming that Barrack Obama is a Muslim ? Could that possibly be true ?

I dont think so. As far as i know he was brought up Christian. His father is a Muslim and mother a christian plus we had all that crap about his pastor that he disassociated himself with who was definatly a Christian, although most of his views wernt very Christian like.

I dont think it matters anymore. I doubt he'll get re elected after he supported the building of a mosque on Park Place 2 blocks from the WTC. I used to work on Park place and know exactly where they are going to build it. Its a stones throw from what used to be the World Trade Center.

spaul, please give links to sources of material that you quote or refer to.

The only link I could find, searching on your topic title was this:

http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2010/08/1 ... im/?hpt=T2

I suspect a lot of this is down to a reaction because of his support for the building of a Mosque on the sight of the WTC, as mentioned above.

There is no link. CNN reported quite the opposite.

CNN was reporting that a certain percentage of Americans (20-30?) believe Bobo is a Muslim.

If he was born to a Muslim father and never renounced Islam, he is a Muslim, according to some, no matter how many years he listened to Rev Wright scream, "God Damn America!"

Others claim Bobos father to be an athiest, but he became a Muslim in Indonesia.

I could care less. His religion, or non-religion, takes a serious backseat to his failed policies.

Good post texpat, I wasnt sure but i knew it was either the father or mother anf some believe that if your father is Muslim then you are muslim. personally I couldnt care less either.

I dont bare any ill will toward the man but your right most of his policies have not worked out well and he has lost alot of confidence. Now Americans just have to work out if they would prefer Sarah Palin instead of Obama..... For me personally thats a tough choice but as Im not an American, Only lived there for 7 years on a greencard, i cant vote! I think it wil be a very interesting election in a couple of years.

What i found more interesting actually was Mayor Bloombergs support of the Mosque. Given that he is Jewish I would have though he would be opposed to it but no, he's right in there supporting it, very strange, imo

Palin is a non-entity.
She will never be elected.
But don't tell the frothing-at-the-mouth liberals that.
They're completely obsessed with her in the same way the Thai government is obsessed with Thaksin.
They can't shake her. Their problem is they're focusing on the wrong target.

Dermot if it will be tough to choose between Palin and Obama, god/buddha/mohammed/thor (etc) help America.

As far as Bloomberg is concerned, perhaps he has a better grasp of equity and reality than the closed, xenophobic minds that oppose the mosque.

Ill try, personally if I could have voted I would have voted for the other guy! More experience, a war hero and somebody who doesnt suffer fools easily.

But hey who am I..... This is what the American people wanted and this is what they have gotten. In American speak I think im called a centralist. Somethings Im liberal about and somethings Im very conservative about however I dont care what religion you are. I just think the building of that Mosque is an affront to every American and a big two fingers also, becasue of the Location, not becasue of anything else. I lost my best friend in the WTC so its a sore subjest with me.

Jackspratt Im not a xenophobe and I believe in religious freedom, the basis on which America was built however its just the location that upsets me.

Dermot why would the location of a muslim "church" upset you?

If a christian group wished to build a church 2 blocks away from the Murrah site in Oklahoma City, would you be equally upset?

I don't like Obama as I think his agenda is wealth distribution! But I dislike the narrowminded view that the Islamic religion is responsible for the 9/11 infamy! The mosque is not at ground Zero anyway,it is a couple of Manhatten blocks away,To me,a conservative capitalist,I support the right to freedom of belief and religions, anything else is anout as unamerican as anything I could think of!!
