The price of watching a premiership match .

Postby trubrit » February 18, 2010, 8:03 pm

Can anyone tell me . How much is it to get into a premier league game these days? My Thai son is an ardent Arsenal supporter and I was proposing to take him to watch an Arsenal match when we go to England soon . Not wishing to disappoint him I have tried booking in advance on line . Okay it is with a ticket agency and I know they inflate their prices, but I am being quoted 250 pounds per person behind the goal, and 400 each in the stands .This makes it over a thousand quid for my family to watch , at the most, 2 hours entertainment .Can this be correct? I know its been a long , long time but I remember my Dad paid half a crown each for standing alongside the dugout at Highbury .For that we saw the likes of Matthews , Compton et al. They were real footballers then .

Certainly getting ripped off TB...
Try the official Arsenal web site.
https://www.eticketing.co.uk/arsenal/default.aspx
I would think it works the same as the Man U one (although we have a bigger ground, but maybe more want to watch :D
With the United 1, I am an "e" member of the site, so that entitles me book tickets (limited to 2 for most matches) via the site IF they are available - so the earlier you try the better & don't go for a game against another of the top 4 as they are almost certainly sold out. Although I do see that the Arsenal site do 'packages' (room & ticket) might sneak in under 1 of them...

My son also likes going to The Emirates Stadium. In his opinion it's a good day out and well worth the money. He said the fans were brilliant. Lots of chanting and singing.

I should add that the singing and chanting was not done by the home supporters. He, like his old man supports Chelsea and on his last two visits they have won 4-1 and 3-0. :D

Hold onto the tickets and progs for a few years, and you can recoup some of the money. Just before I came to Thailand I was busily throwing stuff away that was of no use anymore, and selling whatever I could. I put 6 old ticket stubbs and progs on e-bay with a reserve of 5 quid .......... they went for 62 quid.
