The Thais and Astrology

Postby westerby » May 3, 2009, 8:39 pm

I'm fascinated by how the Thais lend so much credence to astrology and fortune telling. Do any ex-pats take this as seriously as their partners?

I don't take it seriously, but in the past, I have felt that the fortune teller's ability to describe what he could not possibly really know to be very uncanny. Very.

A few years ago, my wife had a reading. The news was pretty bad (getting sick, people dieing, stuff like that), so I encouraged her to have another reading. This one was a little better, but she was still saddened by it. A third reading was a bit positive, and she brightened right up!

By the way is it really astrology that, or is it just the resemblance to Tarrot cards?

Ok if you go to one fortune teller and they give a bad outlook, just try another see if its the same...then another and another all on the same day one after the other...see what the future is, one could give totally the opposite than the other person 30 minutes ago....or would that be deemed to be messing with the 'spirits' and make the already bad outlook even worse...Image

That could really screw someone's mind up.

Fortune telling must be a good business. When you go to the indoor section in Centrepoint the fortune teller beside the doors ALWAYS has a Billy Bunter. I have never seen her sitting alone without a customer.

Could be a cardboard cut out...or a mannequin, just to give the right impression to passing 'future punters'.... :-k

if anyone rushes out of there with tears in their eyes or screaming uncontrollably with fear in their eyes...don't go in.
