Live music every night with the band , even with the broken english if this pub was at the other end of town it would be the number 1 bar, good atmosphere. pooltable darts, no loud music of all the modern type , just old classics songs

A place to have the wedding party

I'm not particularly fond of C & W, but the Western Bar has a nice atmosphere and is somewhere I can take my wife - for me an important consideration. It rates well in my book. :D

I was out and about last nite (well this morning :D ) at that end of town and was persuaded to go into the Western Bar. It is dark in there (the waitresses carried a torch so you could read the menu) !!
Pretty quiet in there but they did have some customers on a Tuesday, so not too bad. The band certainly had great musical skills although some of the songs were a bit Tenglish. They still did Black Sabbath, you will be happy to know Roy, & a very good rendition of Wonderwall.
All in all it was a very pleasant couple of hours in there & will certainly go in again when I am out that way.

Wow Black Sabbath and Oasis... I might be tempted. I need a fix of western music. Starting to go cold turkey with the Thai stuff. Listening to Men at Work and U2 in the car today but need more, a live guitar like a syringe into my veins.

They were doing Cocaine as we went in Alan (the song, not the powder :D ). 90% UK/USA Rock Classics, with 10% Thai Rock Classics (if such a category exists). I recognised (& enjoyed) everything they played.
As i said vocals sometimes iffy, guitar work (3 of them) was top quality. The drummer is, I am told, a Thai music teacher (& has been for at least 15 years) so they are not "spring chickens" but certainly know how to play.

its a good place to go for something differant , better at weekends , more lively !! i agree with bob musically the band is very good , the lyrics can be quite amusing at times , but you can understand them especially after a few refreshers . occasionaly you get an english guy named bill , retired bobby from essex hooked up with the owners niece . he brings his guitar and joins the band , plays a lot of shadows stuff , very good too.

ST? You sure this man was ex bobby? I met up with a bloke has a problem walking. He invited me to his massive expensive house.Swimming pool the lot.i think he realised I was the" poor farang of Udon" He is a ex fireman.I bought my guitar ,had jam session. He could not play any Thai songs.I know one.I sent him my copy, notes and lyrics. He asked me send him.
He never ever replied to me.
Some time after, I went to the Western pub. There he was.But didnt want to know me!Next thing I know he's up on the stage playing "MAA" (Sec Loso) same song!He never even replied to my email say thanks.
Not knocking him but I thought I was better.I think he was upset because he's wife was so empressed me playing at his house.
I have always wanted to" go up" and have a go but I get nervious Hands shake! Crazy I know!. I did once in Pattaya. Went well too. But I was "merry" !
