Is that Bobby retired old bill, or old Bill retired Bobby?

A lady friend of mine took me there a couple of months ago and I had a really good night there. The guys in the band asked me what sort of music I wanted to hear so I said The Rolling Stones. They new quite a few of their numbers and yes they were pretty good musically. A good bunch of guys and a nice different venue for a change of scene.

Didn't hear any Shadows stuff though. Before my time. :^o
Such is life.

Hi
I am Bill not Bobby who plays a couple of times a week.Yes I was always a Shadows Fan but do play other music. If you're old enough you may remember it. My family say I'm stuck in a 60's time warp. Anyway I jam with the group, not for money I might add, but I've always played music back in the UK. By the way I was Met Police not Essex. 30 years was enough. It's true I met my 'Wife' at the pub. She is the neice of the owner. Someone referred to the man who plays the tamborine at the door. He is the boss and her uncle.
The bands that play in my opinion are excellent, the words are sometimes difficult to understand but who cares if the music is good. It is referred to as country and western music but actually its a blend of everything from the 50's to the 90's. The problem is the location is a little out of town and many Farangs have not even been there.
Although some people go over the top with their drinking the boss seems to keep everything under control.
The drinks are a little more expensive than the norm but considering the entertainment it's not bad. The Thai food is good as are the french fries but I would not recommend the steak (Usual Thai leather) The staff are very polite but don't expect the same service as you may get from the many drinking bars in town. They are pretty straight and it's a good place for couples to have a night out. OK the Thais are sometimes a little noisy but as we all know, that seems to be in their nature. Anyway anyone who fancies a night out with good music comealong. If anyone thinks I'm trying to promote the pub let me assure them I'm not on commision.
Hope to see you ther
Regards
Bill

Thanks Bill for the quick write up. I have seen the place before when I buy gas at the Shell station but never knew it was open.

Does anyone know........

Are single guys welcome or is it more of a couples/romantic type of place?

I gave up alcohol years ago and I assume the pub has non-alcoholic drinks available?

Also does anyone know the opening hours?

Thanks in advance.

g.

I think the opening hours are 1.00 pm. to 1.00 am.
Coke & other bottled soft drinks are available, not sure about something like freshly squeezed OJ though.
When I went there were couples, a small group(about 4) of Thai men, a few single Thai men & 2 single Farang (one of which I now guess was Bill :D )- but everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. There is quite a bit of table/chair seating plus the bar, which I think there are stools at (but don't hold me to the stools bit as it was late at night & I do drink beer :D )

Thanks to everybody for your replies. The Western pub opens about 8pm. The band plays about 9 pm. I jam about 10.30pm until 11pm. There is another band(very good) that play to midnight and then the resident band play until about 1pm (or later) anyone can get up and sing a song. Single men and ladies are all welcome. Hope this answers some questions

Not so strange, I gave up the cigarettes and alcohol nearly four years ago.

:guiness: Good band although the beer is a little over priced but you expect that when you are getting free entertainment.
When Bill the guest guitarist gets up and plays his Shadows tributes you could imagine you were listening to the record.
All in all 10 out of 10 for this little spot

In spite of the mosquitoes and all, its amusing to hear their localized renditions of songs that I had heard for decades.
