there is not much that is worse

Postby old-timer » January 22, 2011, 4:49 pm

there is not much that is worse than putting half a box of fish fingers in the frying pan and half way through cooking the electric goes out. It's only alright if youv'e got a gas cooker. Not much irritates OT, but this has. I'm gonna eat them even if they are still frozen in the middle. I put this in the "where to eat in udon thani" thread because it can happen in Udon as well.

OT............ \:D/

I know the feeling OT
That's the reason I got an old type gas kettle. When the power goes here in Udon, which is about 30 times a year and anything from a few seconds to 6 or 7 hours, I can still get my caffine fix. Then at least I'm calm enough to ask politely what the F.... they've done, and how much longer they intend to take before I can resume normal life :D

"there is not much that is worse "

As we live in the countryside and experience our fair share of electric outages, I'll offer this:

It's cold outside and the water in your storage tank seems to be just above the freezing point. You jump in the shower, lather up, and the power goes off. No hot water, no water pump. Oh yeah, the air inside the house also seems to be just above freezing (60F).

what a bummer OT..yup a gas BBQ is a must for such occasions, and those liitle concrete bucket type open fire thingys are handy, can even boil up some water, and tip it into one of those plastic solar shower bags they have these days for camping, for those stuck in cold cilmates, and a califont, the one with the battery ignition are handy for heating water if the power is off..
heck, I cooked a chicken in my fireplace once, because it was raining cats and dogs, and my outdoor fireplace was awash..hardly any thai houses have fireplaces, but thailand is always going to have power cuts and water shortages, so a backup system of some kind does help..maybe you should have fried them on the bonnet of the car OT..
