Yes it is a change, this year I believe. Applies to motorbikes as well.

from what i can gather from the wife , who i must admit is not that clued up on this sort of thing, there is no need to have the insurance sticker because public liability insurance is now included in your road tax . however ive just renewed my insurance , and keep a photocopy of the certificate in the vehicle, just in case !!!!!!

Not quite correct, it is not included in the road tax. You must have proof in the way of a receipt for your para bor (compulsory 3rd party or public liability) insurance, which has to be kept with the blue book, before you can renew the annual tax. Usually you get the para bor renewed with you class 1 or what ever general car insurance you have and it costs about 1050 Baht. You pay some 900 to 6000 Baht for the road tax (depending on what you own) in addition to the insurance.

The sticker was abolished about 2 years ago as I have not been given one for that period.

TiT ](*,) I pay about 1100 Baht for mine but being a 2 door I get to travel at 10kph less than a 4 door, maybe cause they think I'll turn it into a double deck, 16 man, 2 bike and 6 fan taxi. [-X That's penalty for saving some 5000 Baht per year, then there's the colour discrimination where I have green text on mine and you have black. AND now I have to pay another 50 Baht for the 'CarryBoy'! :yikes:

yesterday I paid Por Ror Bor Insurance 645 baht for a one year old CRV. Is that too little? I pay 900+baht for a Nissan NV.
I only ask as the girl handling our business wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the box.
Are there any other CRV owners with comparable fees.
Cheers

Think you need to check what insurance you have, Patriot. At that level, you may have the class 3, just compulsory coverage. Or the same for a motorbike.

Clarification required.
No need to display Insurance sticker, we all know that.
renewal of yearly Road tax normally includes Third party only insurance however some may have to pay more.
I paid last year Number 1 ins approx 12000 baht for a 6 year old Mitsu 4x4, when it was 1 year old was about 23000, so any less than average means you do not have number 1 ins and here as long as you can afford it that is a MUST .

Blimey JR, where did you dig this up, it's over two years old!! :D

My compulsory insurance is still 645baht for the CRV, and 900+for the NV which I couldn't understand then. I presume it is the earning capability of a "truck"(NV - albeit pretty useless for carrying anything other than two dogs and a bicycle!!) being greater than that of a "car"(CRV).

FYI, my First Class Insurance on the CRV is now at 17,000 baht with Bangkok Insurance, and 7,000 for the NV.

As Paul said, the Insurance sticker is no longer displayed ... only the tax disc, which is only available after proof of compulsory insurance payment.

Beg pardon.

"CRV" is Honda's SUV, and "NV" is Nissan's mini-pickup.
