yes I was wondering when the possibility of a year visa would come up, he is married to a thai I assume legally ( amphur marriage and all that, ) maybe it is the problem of proving income that is the stumbling block here, not assuming anything, but it seems that he has to work therefore proving any finances might be a tad difficult.
Thai mariage visa would in fact solve all problems and he could get a work permit with his job, but the visa does not dpeend on the job a far better option.

This may be of interest to Nicholas. It relates to work permits when you cease the job:-

Yes, it is -- though sometimes I wonder how universal things visa regulations are. They seem to change by location of the immigration office, they seem to change by time. I always go into the immigration offices expecting to be given lists of things to do, documents to produce, and difficulties, that are different from the previous time. Part of this is because I am young, have no pension, and my wife and I are doing many short-term things.

I think that my own visa saga is winding down into a decent conclusion -- like a divorce, its details are interesting mostly to me, but in a couple of weeks I'll post a wrap-up, in case anyone cares.

Or perhaps this is only the third act, and there's something I won't like coming up in the fourth.

Me I would do what immigration told me to do and hope for the best.

Man you got yourself in a heck of mess,

Would a Student Visa get his time?

There may be some schools in Udon that can help you to get one.

That being said look at my first sentence thats the one that really counts :pirate:

Nicholas,

What are you doing, what a mess. I would say in any Western Country you would be deported. Lucky you picked Thailand to start your web.

I would keep clear of an future employer which ask you put any untruths on a Visa application form and do your own 90 day reporting. If you decide to start teaching again which would not recommend until you get an new passport with some stamps. Don't lie just forget alcohol works for me.

BobHelm wrote:I am certainly not "up" on work permits. However I would imagine that once the job is finished & you hand in your WP that you do not have to actually attend an Immigration Office - you can just leave the country!!!
As, on leaving the country, your current visa enabling work in Thailand would be cancelled.
As your current visa expires shortly anyway it might be just as well to leave the country either middle of this week, middle of next week & head to Vientiane & get a double entry tourist visa (as mentioned above).
As lopburi & others have suggested it is probably better if you don't draw attention to yourself too much with the Thai authorities in the foreseeable future. Immigration on exit/entry to Thailand tend to be "date sensitive" & "visa sensitive" rather than anything else. Going into the "Office" to ask for their services can involve the Passport & past events in it, being more closely examined!!

personally if the thrid act is a decisiom that has been made then the option to leave the country and return and start again would seem to be the better option, either that or leave the country and return at a later date, to restart, as yet it seems you have NOT committed any offence apart from perhaps working with a possible invalid work permit, a minor offence at best. So retreat to advance later woulkd seem a logical step.
