There is no such requirement saying that the money has to be paid into your account. The requirement is:

Evidence showing the income of an alien, not less than 40.000 THB/month.

These are the requirements in Thai:

14. Immigration will investigate the above facts and verify that the alien has a relationship with the above.

If one has a one year marriage Visa, and when expires, I have heard that if you change to a retirement visa,you need a signature of your Wife(or EX)?

As single you must show 800K in stead of 400 in bank,so the signature is worth some.

Just for information:
I visited the Immigration office at the airport today for an extension. Friendly staff. Terribly hot, the did not even have any fans and all the immigration staff worked in T-shirts. I asked my wife to ask if they would be closed anytime during Songkran and the answers was probably THE WHOLE WEEK! So if you have urgent business maybe you should go tomorrow friday and not wait till next week.

Are there any Immigration Volunteers at the Immigration office? I used to be one when I lived in Phuket. I know live in Nong Khai. I am guessing Udon Thani would be far busier than Nong Khai.

When the sub-office was open at the Aek Udon hospital I once saw a Farang walking around there in an official manner; whether he was a volunteer or not; not sure. May be worth your while going and asking at the airport office, I'd be interested in their reply.
