As one of those that choose not to display publicly my browsing habits I suppose I should answer.
Firstly . What the hell has ethics got to do with it? It is part of the freedom of choice you are often rabbiting about whether to stop at road blocks etc.
You choose not to stop, I stop. In this case I choose not to display, you choose to. Very simple, nothing furtive or shameful about it. I don't like to see my name on display, you apparently do.
It may interest you that all moderators and administrators can at all times see whose browsing, hidden or not.
Hope that solves your "wonderment" certainly where I'm concerned , anyway.

As in Royal Air Force and Royal Navy etc.All commissioned officers receive the Queens Shilling upon appointment to the officer ranks and swear an oath of allegiance to the Crown.and receive the courtesy title of Sir from lower ranks.
That reminds me of an incident that occurred a long time ago when I was still a rookie at military academy. All us cadets were officially officers and technically should be addressed as Sir, but we had a drill instructor of at least 20 years service teaching us how to march., now one fine day a young hapless rookie officer, turned to the right when the command was "left wheel" can you imagine, just one man on the parade ground went the wrong way, well he was greeted with a shout from the drill sgt that went like, 'What the ffing hell are you doing airman"To which the rookie replied'I am an officer you must call me sir"The sgt without batting an eyelid then replied, " What the ffing hell are you doing, SIR'Those were the days.![]()

One weekend away I joined an RAF officer for a training flight, everything went fine as far as I can remember, but then when I returned to the squadron that evening I received an ear bashing from my squadron leader because I forgot to call the pilot officer sir throughout the flight.
I guess I wasn't yet prepared for the discipline of the RAF.

Actually Lee, like not saluting an officer, not addressing him as Sir, is considered as an insult to Her Majesty as you are literally not recognising Her commission.
