Missing Person

Postby Kudjap or Bust » September 7, 2006, 1:37 pm

Probably not the right place to ask this but here goes anyway

Does anyone know of or met an English guy name of Jamie from Epsom whose possibly been staying in Udon recently?

Reason I ask is I've been told a falang is in a short time room up here, he's in his 30's, short dark hair and its possible has missing front teeth.

I've been asked to put this on the forum rather than see him escorted away by the local constabulary. He's not acting in any way bad but is sleeping and is in a drunken state.... seems a couple of girlies dropped him off last night with the promise of returning this morning but didn't show up.......and it's time to check out.......

Can't you let him sleep it off and bill him for today?

Hey it's not our short time room, belongs to a friend of my wifes family. she is a little concerned she might not be able to get rid of him later, especially as the girlies didn't come back, and they've possibly ripped him of his money. she has been paid for the room though for last night..........but now it's check out time..........

My advise was the same Stan, leave him til later this afternoon early evening see how he is when he wakes up. I've also volunteered to go speak with him then.

Just thought someone may know the guy or where he's staying in Udon, if he is that is.

So he's not really missing, more like found but not wanted. Does he have any identification on him, passport etc.If not you are duty bound to notify police or immigration if he stays on your premises.Presumably you've tried the bucket of cold water. If he doesn't respond you better get medical assistance he may be seriously ill.

As I said he's not on our premices, he's in a short time room owned by a woman whose a friend of my wifes family. He claims to have his passport with him, but I have no clue if this is right or not.

I just wanted to try to help the guy if I could and only got involved thus far being the only falang the owner knows. I'll go up there later and see how things are going. If I don't I know the owner will call the cops and have him removed.

I'm told he's not seriiosly sick just suffering from the from the alcohol, talking jibberish. Sounds like he's still pi**ed, thats why I advised to let him sleep more.

I suppose it is the pitfalls of owning short time rooms, but, does nobody actually read the postings here......

These are NOT our rooms, the owner is a Thai lady and is a friend of the wifes family...........

Let me say it again

These are NOT our rooms, the owner is a Thai lady and is a friend of the wifes family...........

I wish they were ours, she has 8 rooms, 250bht a night and is full most nights of the week....................

so if she has 8 rooms at 250 a night and they are full most nights, she must be doing ok, i would get a spare key and have a look in the room to make sure he is still alive, then let him alone to sleep it off, things like this happen over thailand everyday.
wonder why his teeth are missing ? beware.

Have her collect his passport, versus calling the police! If he gives it to her,she will have a good chance of collecting her damn 250 B.If he refuses to give it up or pay, then the consequences are his!

The other thing is ,you could pay the 250 baht!

At this point I feel compelled to say something like "If he's in your short time room, then you have a responsiblity..."

Or: "I did not realize that you had a short time room..."

But I can see the frustration level mounting. Here you are, just trying to do what you can for a fellow in a freind's short time room, and now you are being peppered with advice you didn't ask for.

As Ray recently wrote, no good deed goes unpunished.

I hope that by now this fellow has recovered and your friend is rid of her burden.

Well you have to admit you can find yourself in odd situations here. Especially when you try to be Jai Dee.

He was still sleeping it off at 8pm had got up and eaten something so must be OK health wise, then went back to bed.

They left him there. And yes, I paid last nights fee........ can only wait and see what transpires today

The lady just wants rid I think. She really only caters for the local Karaoke girls / boys and their "guests".
