Day trips from Udon Thani

Hi Guys.
My partner and I are coming to Udon Thani for a two week holiday in a week or so . My partner is a Thai local but hasn't lived in the area for many yrs plus as she left so young dosent really know the surrounding area- so I'm after day drip destinations ( driving) just seeing the local sites - so if anybody could advise I would appreciate it
